Both are tough cats but they know they are no match for a hawk.
I have a sister in rural country who has a barn and their barn cats don’t venture far from it either. I’ve watched them cross the mowed area into the side grass field but they are soon to return.
I had one cat that did her nightly rounds....then circles back as well. Never went further than a couple blocks.
Agreed. My cats hang out in a fairly small area, they will not venture out unless it is with me. I sometimes go for a walk in the woods and they will follow but the further we venture from home the more uneasy they become. If they were not with me they would not partake in the "hike"
Oh that’s funny but I believe it as when I went to follow my cat to see where she goes I wasn’t exactly sure if I was following her or she was walking with me! I do know it felt like I was walking a dog! Ha!

The best answers they give usually amount to a cat being too independent or of allergic concerns. This is especially true of “macho” men who make the stale jokes about “the other white meat” and “cats have staff” yada yada. Apparently hating cats makes them feel tough,masculine or something. I think it just makes them look like bullies of small animals. I don’t hate dogs I just don’t care for them. I have a 25 lb ragdoll who is sweetness on earth.
