CDC just raised travel risks to Japan and SK
There goes the Olympics.
It’s like going home for Christmas/New Years. The Vietnam version is “Tet.”
So it is likely that a lot of folks go to other places in the country to visit their homestead. It is not dissimilar than people leaving NYC and LA to travel home.
I am sure some folks go to NYC, but not as many as those leaving. In any event—they are stuck where they are.
I am not sure, yet. The US is weeks away from China on the timeline. And it seems there are a lot of folks “buying the dip”. And that has worked in the past. Until it doesn’t.
Viruses have a way of getting to people. They are sneakier than bullets. Ha ha.
a) this *was* a bioweapon
b) It was created or released in China (even if stolen from Canada, or North Carolina, or engineered by Harvard)
...then maybe it would be time for President Trump to do some for-real collusion with Russia, by NUKING Peking (oops, "Beijing") for releasing this biowweapon into the world.
Full disclosure: if it was a bioweapon, and the Harvard Chem. Dept. Head or any of his Chicom stooges had anything to do with it, nuke Harvard too.
I think he can call the CDC to a White House meeting (probably in the next week.). Invite Nancy and Chuck.
It’s all for show. But it would appear he is concerned. Nancy and Chuck would talk “politics.” Trump can say, “When they ask for an emergency action we will be here. They (the CDC) are the experts.”
When it blows up, he will fire them and put some high profile doc in charge.
In the end it won’t matter.
Maybe, hopefully, people have been sick and recovered in those apartment blocs and not been counted.
All we can do is presume they know something enough to warrant the response they've had. IMO, a 3% mortality rate would not do this.
If it spreads to Mexico, there will be more reason to finish the wall unless the RATS want a pandemic in the US.

If I’m understanding this paper right, if one gets a viral infection, and builds antibodies, and then gets a variation of that virus down the road, it may cause a more intense infection with that second variant.
maybe this is why a Wuhan person gets discharged as fine, but meanwhile the virus has mutated to a second or fifth generation or added some little bit of whatever along the way, and boom - now they’re in trouble:

There’s probably a lot they don’t know as you say, but I think the crematoriums have a better idea of true mortality rate. Compare flu and other COD from a year ago with their current numbers...
One thing stands out- nothing but a grave situation would cause China to take the measures they have. No country did this for SARS, Ebola MERS, or the worst flus.
Any updates on these locked up apartment buildings? How are they getting food and med supplies?
But, if true, you have to wonder how long they will have the resources to continue that.
You had to wonder all along what the naysayers were thinking. That China was over reacting ? In a more reality based scenario, perhaps the Chinese were supposed to be acting this way after the mysterious viral leaks in Japan, Taiwan, Australia and Indonesia were resolved. No doubt. Lol.
