Iran confirmed 13 new coronavirus cases, bringing its total in the country to 18. Seven people with the flu-like virus were diagnosed in Qom, four people in Tehran and two in Gilan.
The small outbreak in Iran has been linked to a case in Canada and another infection of a 45-year-old woman in Lebanon after those patients traveled to the Middle East nation.

Iran’s health-care system has the “basic capacity” to detect and contain the coronavirus, said Dr. Jaouad Mahjour, assistant director of emergency preparedness at WHO. World health officials said they remain concerned about the potential spread of the virus to countries with weaker health systems.
World health officials have said the respiratory disease is capable of spreading through human-to-human contact, droplets carried through sneezing and coughing and germs left on inanimate objects.
There are no proven therapies for the new virus.

So far the false positive rate is 100%.
At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the “Bring Out Your Dead” threads will miss the beginning entirely.

Iran has airpollution as bad as China, or so I’ve been told.

The problem: a COVID-19 outbreak in Iran could be pretty scary given the dense population of Iran’s cities, especially Tehran and Mashad.
China is Iran’s largest trade partner.
I understand there is a strong silk road component...going back to the 12 century.
Why the CDC guys would be shocked tells me they’ve spent too much time in undergrad drinking. This is world history 101—which was actually something I learned in high school.
What is wrong with the world? Do people learn anything for simple general purposes? (Not you JJ...but it seems no one ‘knows’ anything.)
So many people with ‘expertise’ getting so stupid so fast can only be a result of Divine Intervention.
Survival of the fittest? While Iran has had strong healthcare in past, I am unsure how it has held up due to sanctions. For the most part Muzzy nations are not well equipped for much anything compared to the west. They reap what they sow. 7th century thinking will lead to their ultimate demise. Maybe this virus is nudge in that direction. Let’s not help them unless they convert to Christianity. That means do nothing.
I’m beginning to believe this was genned in a bio lab with the express purpose of world depopulation.
Iran lost a quarter of its population to a Spanish flew 100 years ago.
Hopefully it will be higher this time.
