This will be the forever thread.
This is the time to open up your pandemic plans and see that things are in order, Dr. Anne Schuchat, a top official of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, urged hospitals last week
Comment - no maam, the time for this was the day they quarantined 53 million Chinese. That should have been your first clue.
Now hospitals and drs office will be playing catch-up, as cases show up and they dont know anything other than the flu is going around yet. Just like England, just like S. Korea, etc.
Thanks. Hope so.
They spent all their money during DISAster.
DANN YOU AUTOCORRECT. FISAgate.
I think it’s hard for us to even consider the viewpoint of China’s leaders. Very different concerns and aims than ‘free’ Western governments.

What struck me is Chinese “prices up sharply”.
We should not be dealing with 10,000 plus self quaratines scattered throughout our country. They are also throughout Central and Southern America. That is our end.
That is something we must always have in the back of our minds when dealing with any foreign powers, including our so- called allies. - Tom
Just want to say THANK YOU to everyone for being so vigilant and reporting on this. This is highly valuable to all our families.
I work in a hospital and know that $40K for masks, gloves and hand sanitizers won’t go far. Costs for those items is not cheap, and obviously not reusable.
We’re as ready as we can be- in such a dynamic situation it’s tricky to pin down possibilities, but you plan for a few.
There’s a reason you have to go to the archive for that paper — it was withdrawn by the authors.

Travel - State Dept
@TravelGov
U.S. citizens should reconsider travel by cruise ship to/in East Asia and the Asia-Pacific Region. To prevent the spread of the novel #coronavirus that causes COVID-19, many countries are implementing strict screening procedures. For more information see: http://ow.ly/pt3450yrVPw

Actually, this season isn’t so mild. 0.1% mortality for influenza is in the normal range. The 6.8 number is the number of infected people, 6.8 Million. Anything over 7.3M (at the same time) in the USA is considered epidemic level according to the CDC.
Problems with CDC coronavirus test delay expanded U.S. screening
The delay could impede the U.S. governments ability to detect scattered cases before they snowball into larger outbreaks.

Among the infected at Fuxing Hospital in Xicheng district were eight medical workers, nine cleaning staff and 19 patients along with their families, the Beijing government’s leading group for COVID-19 prevention and control work said at a press conference on Thursday.

The Fuxing Hospital is Fuxed. Failed to implement proper precautions? Failed to properly screen patients? You would expect them to be using maximum caution at this point.
