My recollection of that song involves crossing the algiers ferry to go into new Orleans for Mardi Gras day. Blackwater had come out and was playing on the radio and lots of places in NO.

ME! I remember in the army, me and a fella (who was as much a good ol' boy from Arkansas as you'll ever meet) could sing this a capella so well, we'd attract a crowd. I had voice training and sang tenor and he had a voice like a whiskey-soaked, Camel smoking bullfrog with four balls, so he took bass. To this day, I wonder what ol' Coop is up to.
