My recollection of that song involves crossing the algiers ferry to go into new Orleans for Mardi Gras day. Blackwater had come out and was playing on the radio and lots of places in NO.

ME! I remember in the army, me and a fella (who was as much a good ol' boy from Arkansas as you'll ever meet) could sing this a capella so well, we'd attract a crowd. I had voice training and sang tenor and he had a voice like a whiskey-soaked, Camel smoking bullfrog with four balls, so he took bass. To this day, I wonder what ol' Coop is up to.

Where the strange green reptiles crawl
Snakes hang thick from the cypress trees

I was born in Baton Rouge, and we always go back. This song reminds me of my dear sweet Mother though, as it was always on the radio when she was driving me somewhere as a kid. She liked it too. Lord I miss her!

It was part of my Halloween rotation at the store and it pops into my head at odd times.
Yours was very nice as well. Good pictures.

I’ve always loved it (and several other Doob songs).
Interesting that a band from San Jose, California is classified as a Southern Rock band.

Had a acapella singer college friend who taught a couple of us the harmony parts to the chorus. It was a blast to sing.

Tiran is one of my all-time favorite bass players.
Love the “Stampede” album, especially “I Cheat the Hangman”.
