Report: Raiders prepared to offer Tom Brady two-year, $60 million contract

The Las Vegas Raiders have been rumored to be interested in Tom Brady, and a report emerged indicating they may pay handsomely to land the future Hall of Fame quarterback.

Veteran NFL reporter Larry Fitzgerald Sr., the father of the Arizona Cardinals receiver, provided this interesting nugget on Friday:

I’m told Las Vegas is prepared to offer @TomBrady $60 million over 2 years.

Now, $30 million a year isn’t exactly top dollar these days, and there are reports that $40 million a year could soon be reached for another top QB.

Would Brady going to Da' Raiders cause level 10 heartache in New England? I remember there used to be a lot of bad blood between the Pats and Raiders. From what I heard, 2 years@ $30 a year is what the Pats are going to offer although supposedly the 2nd year would be voidable for cap purposes.

Brady just finished a below average year. Is he worth it?

I’m surprised the Redskins haven’t made an offer. This is the kind of bonehead deal their management specializes in.

Longtime New England fan here who is of course appreciative of Brady’s GOAT play. But it is over. He hasn’t been the same for two years now and he’s just too old.

He’s not the type to hang on until he can hand the reins over, just like he was given the reins while Drew Bledsoe was still here. (And Bledsoe of course didn’t take that well.)

I’m ready to move on and see Belichick on a mission to build another dynasty just to prove his great record wasn’t more Brady’s than his. I don’t think it would take Bill more than a year to reload and ramp up again.

Oh, and I also think if Kraft had allowed Belichick to shift to Jimmy G. this year that he could have coached Jimmy to hold it together through a championship.

$40 mil/yr would kill any team’s salary cap unless they went cheap on every other player on the team.

(checks Raiders roster)

I guess LV could make this work.

Not buying the rumor. Dump a 28 year old Carr (4000 yds 21 TD 8 Int) for a 43 year old with a decayed arm and no legs?

If the Raiders were to move on, would be better to draft a QB with their pick at 12 and keep Carr for a year or two.

I see a sad ending to Brady’s career in LV while Belicheck’s Pats continue to make the playoffs.

I am a Pats fan. If he wants to go somewhere, that’s sad, but OK. If he goes somewhere without a world class front line, he is going to get hurt...and hurt badly. That would be stupid.

Meh.

The Packer’s survived the loss of Favre and his ridiculous antics with two other teams (We’ll Never Forget You, ‘Brent’!) and we got on with our lives and went on to win another Superbowl.

It can be done! :)

30-40 million a year to run with a ball down a field. Ok.

That would be such a pathetic mistake. So Raiders.

If you want to make money make other people money. The NFL is a 15 billion dollar industry based largely on the efforts of about 1500 players. That’s a big pot of money to spread to not that many people. So yeah, 30 to 40 mil to move a ball down a field.
