The Marines got the first run of the Corsairs because it had such a short landing gear, it tended to bounce on carrier landings, and the Navy wouldn’t certify them.

Later models beefed up the gear to fix the problem.

Well I’ve forgotten just about everything but I did watch the show as a, what, slightly less than teenager?

I've read in a couple places where the Hellcat had the highest kill to loss ratio of any fighter on either side in WWII.

I was watching "Red Tails" just last night and it occurred to me that with cgi's ability to recreate historic dogfights, it might be nice to see a movie on the Black Sheep squadron...and I actually thought it would be cool to give Conrad a little cameo. Guess that idea's a non-starter now.

Wild, Wild West is considered one of the progenitors of the modern steam punk movement. Neat concept and some great episodes.

RIP Mr. Conrad. Thank you for the entertainment!

On Corsairs the pilot was placed much further back then other carrier aircraft. It effected take-offs & landings, not that it couldn’t be done. It made it a little more dangerous to fly from carriers.

Pedophilic Disorder is a DSM-5 (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, fifth edition), diagnosis assigned to adults ( defined as age 16 and up) who have sexual desire for PREPUBESCENT children. This is what is usually considered pedophilia. lewd and lascivious act upon a child under 14 IS A CRIME WE USUALLY CALL CHILD MOLESTATION. Above that age is statutory rape.

Natalie was 15 when he raped her.

Polanski for instance drudged and raped a 13 year old. Douglas raped a 15 year old. I assume Wood was not pre-pubescent at 15.

I remember watching “The Wild Wild West” with my dad when I was a little kid. Much of my childhood is hazy, but the TV shows linger in my mind. RIP.

Japan ran out of experienced pilots very early in the war. They had limited fuel in which to train new ones. Our pilots had a big advantage in training and experience after the first six months. Our pilots referred to the European air war as the “big leagues”.

I said to my wife, I think he was considered quite the manly hunk in the Wild Wild West.

She said “You bet your a$$ he was”

Mrs. Child usually claims a man’s looks don’t matter. Life in the old girl after all. LOL

A show so ridiculously over the top that Greg Boyington himself referred to it as “Hollywood Hokum.”

Pappy Boyington was a man who admitted his flaws, and was somewhat embarrassed by the flying Paragon they made him out to be.

the only part hollywood got right was his drinking. I met Pappy Boyington and Saburo Sakai at an air show in Dallas in the 1980’s. They were both very courteous and gentlemanly.
