A show so ridiculously over the top that Greg Boyington himself referred to it as “Hollywood Hokum.”

Pappy Boyington was a man who admitted his flaws, and was somewhat embarrassed by the flying Paragon they made him out to be.

the only part hollywood got right was his drinking. I met Pappy Boyington and Saburo Sakai at an air show in Dallas in the 1980’s. They were both very courteous and gentlemanly.

Pappy Boyington was a total renegade in real life. Spouse met him at an airshow a long time ago and talked with him for quite awhile. Spouse is not easily impressed up or down but he was impressed with Pappy...on the downside.
