We have an Chinese co-worker who lives here in the US. When the coronavirus outbreak began, I thought of asking her if she knew anyone who might be affected or worse yet - infected. But of course, didn't want to stereotype her by assuming she would be affected since she is in fact, Chinese.
But with her giving notice that she is moving on to a startup, she opened up to me about that's going in 'back home'...
She told me about how she's worried about her sister who lives in Wuhan. According to her sister, no one is allowed in or out of the city. She also reported about folks are from Wuhan but outside of town not being allowed back in - or most other places for that matter. With all the other news going on, this would seem like a minor story but..
...Wuhan is the capital of Hubei province, People's Republic of China. It is the largest city in Hubei and the most populous city in Central China, with a population of over 11 million. According to my co-worker, there's an even greater number currently trapped in that city. Her sister stays in her apartment except to go out for food.
Yup, that confirms all the other stories from people either living there or with families there.
Yes....it is a VERY sad situation.
We have been discussing, daily, here on FR, since the outbreak was first brought to light.

The real story here is not the virus but the Maoist Chinese government and how the whole world (including WHO, U.N., and our own corporations and elites) continue to enable and appease it to monstrous consequences.
It is a lesson that sacrificing freedom and morality at the altar of superficial economic gains, will produce disastrous consequences in the end.
Wuhan is also site of some sort of bio weapons lab apparently. Coincidence?

When I was in Shanghai, I walked on Nanjing Road. The most crowded sidewalk I’ve ever been on. If you separate yourself from the person in front of you by more then eight or nine inches, someone will squeeze in front of you.
I asked my (Chinese) wife about this. “What about the crowds on Nanjing road?” I asked. She told me that Nanjing road is empty. Everyone is staying indoors. I don’t know how this can be sustained.
The corona virus is the biggest thing going on in the world today, but is totally ignored and censored by the American press. It is especially ludicrous when we compare it to all the ridiculous shampeachment stuff that has been going on.
This virus has the potential of killing tens or hundreds of millions of people across the world. Fifty million people or more in China are completely quarantined. Russia has shut off its border with China. Our country has issued a warning that no one should go to China. Trade is shutting down in large parts of the world because of fear of the virus. For one example, Hyundai and Kia have shut down their automobile plants because they cannot get necessary parts, which are made in Chinese factories which are shut down because of the virus.
Many of our pharmaceuticals are made in China. We won’t be able to get those. There is an international mask shortage now. Most of the world’s masks are made in China. Much of the rest of the world’s supply has been bought out by speculators, many of them Chinese.
You can go on and on about this. This is an incredibly dangerous situation, and there is virtually no coverage in the American press. A lot of censorship is compounded by intentional misinformation that is going on, including by the mainstream media saying stupid things like the flu is more dangerous than corona virus. Total BS, corona virus is more contagious and has a death rate 100 times higher than the flu.
Just today Reddit has said they will censor “fake stories” about the virus. Do a little googling. Who controls Reddit behind the scenes? Tencent, the Chinese media giant controlled by the Chinese communist government.
Yep, that’s the situation. Its a very long enforced vacation.

I agree with you completely, the only thing I can think is that they are trying to avoid mass panic, but information is being hidden on a massive scale, I agree.
There were pictures on some sites that showed the streets of Wuhan looking like a ghost town, where normally they are so crowded you cannot see one block................

One way it is being spread is by cruise ships with infected passengers. Several have been quarantined in Japan, Italy and Singapore (?).
Just now there is a breaking story about a cruise ship that landed in New Jersey with passengers possibly infected by coronavirus.

Wuhan is THE major railroad crossroads of the most populous part of China, especially in 2020 with high-speed rail links going north to Beijing, south to Guangzhou, west to Chengdu and Chongqing, and east to Nanjing, Hangzhou and Shanghai. The disease was already spreading to other parts of China long before the quarantine was imposed in Wuhan. ]
TenCent let out a pic two days ago of a board with numbers of infected, died, and cured briefly. It’s on the web somewhere.,It shows 200k+ infected, 24+k dead and three digits “cured.” This is a weapon of war that performed as biological weapons are apt to perform. Somebody walks out of the lab with a smidgeon of contamination and the cat is out of the bag.

CDC told him ‘low risk’ and the EMT’s that got the ‘sick passengers’ off the ship aren’t wearing ANY protective gear.
The way the Chinese government responded to this once they reacted indicates to me they knew immediately this was way more than a normal illness. They sent troops in, began physically blocking all roads by building walls or dumping rocks across them, and built two “hospitals” in 10 days which are now suspected of just being where they are sending everyone to die.
They have blamed this on something someone caught from an animal in one of their unsanitary markets. But there is also a bioweapons lab in Wuhan. At first I was very skeptical, but seeing everything going on I am starting to give more credence this was caused by an inadvertent release from the bioweapons lab, and the government knew immediately what it was.
The virus was first discovered Dec 8th and the first death Jan 11.
So fare countries outside of China only 2 deaths. Wait until 2-3 more weeks pass.
I also wonder why there is very little about the virus on the various MSM channels.
They have sent more time on the dog with 6 tennis balls in it’s mouth and the coyote with the badger than the virus.
My only reasoning is they do not want to panic the population which would destroy many sectors in our economy-the travel business for starters.
I have zero doubt the gov’t met with these folks and told them the what could happen.
