What is it? A new football league owned by Vince McMahon, the WwE guy. I think Trump body slammed him once. Actually it's not exactly new, see it had one season way back in 2001 and went belly up, but it's back and this time, it's personal. 10 week season kicks off this weekend. Top two teams in each conference advance to the playoffs.
What are the teams and their head coaches?
Western Conference
Dallas Renegades, Bob Stoops
Houston Roughnecks, June Jones
Los Angeles Wildcats, Winston Moss
Seattle Dragons, Jim Zorn
Eastern Conference
DC Defenders, Pep Hamilton
New York Guardians, Kevin Gilbride
St. Louis BattleHawks, Jonathan Hayes
Tampa Bay Vipers, Marc Trestman
Any rules different compared to the NFL? Yes, they want kickoffs to be exciting again so rules for that are different. In addition there will be no PATs, instead they will attempt to convert from scrimmage, from the 2 yard line for one point, from the 5 yard line for two points, or from the 10 yard line for three points. Turnovers on conversion attempts can be returned for the same number of points. Double forward passes are allowed (if both are behind the line of scrimmage). Overtime will be a 2-point conversion shootout. The play clock will be 25 seconds.
Halftime, Dragons 13, Defenders 6.
Over/under was 51.5.
Make that 13-12, I posted too soon!
“Note to Impy”, not aware of an XFL boycott of any sort? They kneeling during the anthem or something? Seems like a all-American league unlike the NFL.
I know of no boycott efforts.
If there are any it would be from the left, McMahon has vowed to punish any Crapernick kneelers.
I wish them luck...but making a go of “spring football” is a tough road...been tried before....”XFL pt. 1”, etc..
Not looking too good for Seattle. They are on the losing side of 31 - 19. I’m starting out like I thought I would.
I hope this league is successful and that it will, one day, replace the NFL with its outdated structure in which players run the business. Glad to see McMahon has no tolerance for kneeling during the national anthem. When you own all the teams, its easy to fire a player who flouts the rules.
is it as bad as Lone Star beer? LOL
Looking good for Houston. The game barely started and they scored! WOO HOO!
First game started out entertaining. Second game is entertaining as well.
Cardale Jones (former Ohio St. QB)...had a hamstring injury at the start of his NFL pro career...now back and doing well in the XFL:

Was out of pocket but taped Seattle/DC game and just finished watching it with fast forward. While the game was close until the last quarter, it was football even with the XFL twists.
Happy to see DC win as I picked them but it is with a bone in my smile as they are still fellow DC sodomites with them Godless Deadskins of the NFL!
But they beat them mini-bastards from Seattle.
Have the tape of the LA/Houston game on and... my 'Baby Oilers' just scored!
Roughnecks 6 - LA Wussiecats zip in the 1st minute and 23 seconds.
On with the fast forward.
Gadzooks, the Wussiecats drive for a TD and then make the very first XFL 2 point PAT from the 5 yard line to lead now 8 to 6.
Bobbled punt and Houston's ball on the 38 yard line.
Roughnecks miss field goal but come up with a strange pick. Houston ball on the LA 46 but LA comes back with a stop then a TD march making it 14 unanswered point to be ahead 14 - 6.
Houston comes back with a TD and missed 2 PAT attempt making the score 14 - 12.
Houston stops an LA drive and the Wussiecats kick a field goal for a 17 - 12 lead.
Exciting kick off bobble that has my Roughnecks at the LA 39. Then a 39 yard TD pass with a failed 2 PAT for a Houston lead of 18 - 17.
LA blows a field goal attempt, so the score stays My Baby Oilers 18, LA 17.
Now we'll see how the game goes live from here on--
Glad Houston won ... even though LA’s punter is a local boy (Allen Eagles).
I wasn’t able to watch the first XFL game, but I was able to watch the HOUSTON ROUGHNECKS run roughshod over those pansies from LALA Land. LOL
I read some of the rules changes and so on and thought that this could be interesting. Actually watching the game, it really is entertaining as well as faster paced. It helps that these players are really playing for the love of the game as we as proving themselves to themselves.
I am looking forward to what the coming seasons will bring!
GO!! ROUGHNECKS!! GO!!
For today Houston and D.C. had credible wins, with D.C. clearly having a very good defense. Seattle and L.A. have to make improvements. Next week we'll all be picking the same teams - LOL.
Enterprise, if you’re picking any team that’s coached by Jim Zorn, maybe you should think about betting on golf.
LOL - I don’t follow golf, but I will heed your advice.
Bend, I wouldn't root for a
California team if Impy's life depended on it.
Go BattleHawks!!!!
