As a tribute to Rush, I am asking his fans to remember their favorite update theme songs. He mostly stopped the use of these during the Bush43 and Obama years due to music royalty issues but here were some of my favorites:
How time flies. Both are excellent songs.
“Men” - With the guy laughing while the woman sounds like a mouse. “We’re fierce, we’re feminists and we’re in your face.”
Money is the reason. She admitted as much.
The Lumberjack Song by Jackyl.
“Cause, I’m a Kennedy....I’m Ted Kennedy......The Cah skids round and round and round and round.”
Thank you! I was also wondering about the main theme song title myself. I have heard it for 27 years. Cannot imagine working while driving and not hearing it. It relaxes me to think how much Rush embodies the collective reasoning of so many, over so many years and giving voice and platform to his audience, the silent majority. God grant us Rush many more a years!!
Enjoy while we can, he looked pretty bad tonight and was reported to have arrived in a wheelchair :(
The screen got blurry when I saw him.
I’m not ready for this.
Timber Update was Jackal
She also said her parents were Rush fans and she was appeased by donating money to animal groups. Shes a far lefty, but she seems to keep her opinions to herself as far as I can tell. She was probably a bigger hellraiser in her youth.
This is making me very hungry... for Weemsco Tuna.
“The tuna doesn’t taste as good as it used to.”
Then of course “Keep Our Own Kids Safe” (KOOKS)
I love Hillary’s “Try to Remember”
For bumper music, I love Puccini’s “O Mio Babbino Caro” done Rush style!
And he’s in the current Expedia commercial.
I discovered Rush in the late 80s. I was driving around in Springfield, OR with a family friend of Ken Kesey. Tuned into an animal rights update....”Born Free,” with the animal noises overlaid. I was laughing my ass off and the other guy was itruly ncensed. A fan, ever since.
I remember Rush saying it wasn’t Chrissie that got it pulled, but an assistant who just assumed she wouldn’t like it and got it pulled. When Chrissie found out, she re-instated it, saying her parents listened to him. I’m sure the copyright payments were ok, too!
Chrissie, as liberal as she is, is ok with me.
I remember him spanking himself on air in the early days, if he got something wrong, or a listener took him to task.
