Seven in 10 women think there is a societal pressure for women to become subordinate by taking their husband’s last name after getting married.

That’s not all — another element of marriage that makes women feel stifled is the joint bank account.

*** “Not really a marriage if you are going to keep separate accounts” ***

My EX could sign my name better than I could, and more often than I did. She abused neither my signature or our Bank Accounts.

Our first major fight was over joint checking account. I wanted separate accounts, she demanded we have joint accounts.

I looked forward to the day when I married and ditched a last name few could pronounce and many teased about. Unfortunately, I fell in love and married a man with an even weirder last name.

Oh well, maybe my daughters will find men with normal last names.

I readily gave mine up also....for the same reason.

I get it...With a first name like Sacajaweau, you must have a killer maiden name...

Her maiden name is beautiful. Most Americans would have no problem pronouncing it (at least not where I’m from).

I didn’t legally change my name, either, also for practical reasons. But I used my married name socially.

However, having a different legal name than my children always caused some confusion.

As for bank accounts, I now see the wisdom in keeping money separate. One woman told me her husband left without warning, but not before emptying all the accounts.

Wish I’d kept money separate. Then I would’ve had some money in savings when the divorce happened.

Sounds like a marriage built on distrust.

When Hubby and I got married I kept my maiden name, for the same reason. Then about 5 years later when I switched jobs I changed everything to his last name.

Smart move. It has been nothing but a headache for me, especially since I retired.

Anyone know why Buttgiggle’s “Husband” changed his last name to Buttgiggle?

Was he shamed into it or is it a Pitcher / Catcher kind of thing?

In some cases women might have a legitimate beef about changing their name.

This is just so much whine from women who either won’t get married cause nobody asked or don’t want to

The fact nobody ever paid attention to them is their real issue and I’m sympathetic to that

These sorts of women used to be dependable old aunts or took care of their moms or became school teachers or principals etc

Now they have been unleashed on us since the early 70s

What is this now 3-4 generations of pissed off ugly women from the northeast riding herd on our culture cause nobody ever asked them out ..

It’s a host consuming disease best ignored

My wife has my last name

We have joint bank accounts

She has complete autonomy to pay bills etc as she sees fit

Her primary focus is to let me know when to put money in....
Self employed.

I love when we’ve been to professionals and they assume since I’m six five and obviously alpha and she’s petite that I must be this Uber controlling monster

And when they ask her what she does for money or about bank accounts

She replies well he gives me the money we need to support the family or myself when I ask for it and I take care of it

The libtard harridan shrink can see her first line of attack crumble before her very eyes

Women have been destroyed in the west by this sort of nonsense

It came from their most base characteristics and appeals to as such

Vanity and the constant need for validation

Hear me Hear me I have eggs.

I have never ever quibbled with paying the bills for the women I love...it’s how I was raised.

It’s innate

Separate bank accounts is alien to me

My oldest girls fiancée is tight and they split certain things money wise

I have warned her they had better fix this sooner rather than later

Did she ever see me of her grandpa lord over the funds?

Ever?

She’s seen me reel in excess spending when survival depends on it.

Not even close-as I’ve said before, one size does not fit all-there was no distrust in my marriage-especially with our finances out in the open from the first, even though we were far from wealthy-some of us are just inclined to prevent conflict in our most important relationship whenever possible-it is a mercenary world out there...

I’m glad your financial arrangements work for you, whatever they might be-I do not criticize what works for others, even though it may not be my way of doing things...
