CDC Flu Map STILL SOLID after 5 weeks
CDC ^

Posted on 02/03/2020 6:00:47 AM PST by GulfMan

I always watch the CDC flu map, I cannot recall such a long period where the entire US was solid at the highest level for 5 weeks straight. In our area, it's hitting hard, everyone is sick.

See the CDC Flu Map ...

Except the District of Columbia.

I wonder why they’re exempt?

Not every cough and sniffle is Wuhan Novel Corona Virus...

Bring Out Your Dead

Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.

The purpose of the “Bring Out Your Dead” ping list (formerly the “Ebola” ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.

So far the false positive rate is 100%.

At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the “Bring Out Your Dead” threads will miss the beginning entirely.

*sigh* Such is life, and death...

If a quarantine saves just one child's life, it's worth it.

The vaccine was “off” this year. Every year they guess at what type of strain will hit us. Every few years they get it wrong.

Last week the deaths were over 8,000 for this year—which is actually, a little low.

8,000?

Why isn’t there a group of FReepers panicking about that.

Maybe they wait for the Fake News to tell them what to do.

Get rid of public schools and I suspect the flu season will be significantly reduced. My wife and I are empty nesters and have never had flu shots. We’re good.

Because they happen over several months. Not five days.

Flu season starts in November, if I recall. That was 3 Months ago. China started reporting this Cornoa thing in early January. Even though they had identified it in mid December.

So, in three months—during the first week of April, let us gather and review the impact of both.

I see very few posters panicking about this. I see a couple. But for the most part the long existing threads are merely people following the progression. Its the numbers that are scary—not the posts.

Mississippi has been waning - I guess the disclaimer about “severity” of it allows for a full coverage map.

I do not get you people on every single virus thread.

If you have not figured out something is up with the new virus in China because they have actually shut down whole cities(economy over people there because they have plenty of people to spare, is something they would only do for something that is extreme) and the US has a quarantine procedure in place(not happened for decades) for people coming from that region. That is on your shoulders, but discouraging people from watching and preparing in case it gets to their area is just dumb.

Who cares if it never gets here or we are not effected as badly...it hurts no one to watch and prepare. It does harm people if this thing hits us like it has China and they listened to you.

Hot toddy guy said he had it two months ago. So the people that died during that time won’t be identified as coronovirus victims..not that you can believe anything China tells you.

He is a Brit who looks caucasian..from Wales living in Wuhan.

Every few years they get it wrong.

It was only 29% right last year. Haven't even heard a projection for this year's miss.

I always figured if everybody else got a flu shot, I didn't need one. ;o)
