Patrick Mahomes, in Super Bowl comeback, showed why he is the best quarterback in the NFL
Waahington Post ^ | February 3, 2020 | Jerry Brewer

In the fourth quarter of Super Bowl LIV, in a game descending into agony, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes asked his team to believe. It took some nerve to make that request because Mahomes, perhaps the most mesmerizing young quarterback the NFL has ever seen, seemed lost at that point. He was confused, frustrated, impatient. He was awful, and Mahomes doesn't do awful.

Tyreek Hill sighed and slumped his shoulders. Mahomes had just thrown a pass behind Hill, and San Francisco 49ers safety Tarvarius Moore intercepted it. It was Mahomes's second pick of the night, his first multi-interception game since November 2018. The Chiefs trailed by 10.

Believe? Hill had lost faith.

"Man, how are we going to pull this off?" Hill recalled asking.

"You've got to believe, brother," Mahomes insisted. "It's going to happen, man. I can feel it."

You have to admire the mental toughness and maturity of this young man.

Yep. If you've followed the Chief's all year long it's almost as if they're not comfortable winning unless they're behind.

Watched the whole game and glad I did. To think the Chicago Bears passed on Mahomes to pick Mitch Trubitchsky. LOL!!!

Here’s the deal, you can’t build a team with one player, as Tom Brady knows. Mahomes should make sure he doesn’t suck up all the money and that some of the money is used to have the best players around him

I'm about to dump the Vikings after 52 years for that very reason... except they blew 84 million on a slightly better than average QB, who is not getting any better. The only great skill Cousins has, is not getting injured.

He’s good but did not a great game. He had some floaters that no one defender was even near. 49ers choked and Kittle was robbed.

And class. There was an article on Facebook yesterday, posted by some of my friends who are from KC. Apparently Mahomes and his wife were at dinner at a pizza place in KC and the other diners LEFT THEM ALONE. Mahomes was so pleased that when he left, he announced to the other diners ‘thank you for leaving us alone to enjoy our dinner’. After he left, the management informed the other diners that the Mahomes had picked up the tab for all those dining. Class act. GO, MAHOMES!

Jon Gruden was saying before the draft Patrick was the best QB in the draft by far.

That's the stuff of nightmares for the GM.

Pats fan here.

How exactly was the game rigged or the Chiefs cheated?
How about the offensive pass interference call against KC.
I actually agree with the call he pushed off twice.

Mahomes made one of the best comebacks of Super Bowl history. Right behind the Pats coming from behind to beat the Falcons.

I thought KC was done when Mahomes threw the 2nd pick. I think everyone else did except Mahomes and Reid.

Jimmy G looked like he was going to cry after taking one of the KC hits. SF CHOKED. They had the game in the bag. Up 10 with ten minutes to go. All they had to do was run the ball. The KC defense stepped up and crushed them when they had to.

Congrats to KC and all their fans. It was a GREAT Super Bowl win. I am happy for Andy Reid and all the long time KC fans.

Now if only the Lions and Bills could win a Super Bowl.

That is neat.
It was probably his long-time GF Brittany.

I think his baseball skills give him unique passing talents on the field.
And last year after being MVP, he told his off-season trainer it wasn’t good enough, he wanted a SB.

While Brady is still playing giving that title to anyone else is premature at best. It was an impressive comeback, he didn’t let the moment overwhelm him. He has a very bright future. A long career and a few more rings will give him the right to be called “the best QB in the NFL”.

I do not hate the Patriots happy they have won, just wish they would show a bit more class as winners, there is a big difference.

When Manning retired did Brady say congratulations and leave it at that? He had to throw in wish you hadn’t won any Super Bowls.

That is just what a class act does, I suppose some would think.

It was Mahomes worst game as a Chief. But. The Niners got cocky, their coach made some bad decisions, and the Chiefs got an ugly TEAM victory.

Yes, that one long throw to Hill(?) was basically like a punt - he was very fortunate that it wasn't intercepted, no idea what the SF defenders were doing on that play. Great 4th Q for Mahomes, but the rest of the game was mostly meh.

As a Royals and Chiefs fan we savor our Championships whenever can get them. I give Reid as much credit as Mahomes. If Reid can keep key personnel together for next season we might be back.
