“Ford knew about it but let it slide? Bad optics.”
I’m more concerned that anyone buys this UAW-built crap...but then again, maybe it’s mostly government entities.
Their CVT transmission is terrible, too. Son in law went through 3 in less than 100K miles and is going after them under lemon law.
Not the first company who’s done it, and they won’t be the last.
I wonder if I am the only one who thinks auto transmissions are incredibly complex.
My older Brother had a 49 Chrysler with an auto transmission. It worked fine.
I remember the “reverse clutch piston” in the Taurus transmissions back in the late 80’s and 90’s. Blew up a lot of transmissions back then too.
Bought one used for my daughter before I knew about the transmission. Despite the slight shudder at some speeds, it’s a fairly decent car.
Sounds more like Boeing than Ford.
I had some issues with my old Edsel,
should I contact Morgan and Morgan?
A friend has one of these. The trans has been fixed and or replaced several times. He has less than 40k on it. Ford paid for the service, but never gave a loaner, forcing him to pay for towing, Uber, having to share rides, etc.
Ford’s Research and Development team is the American public.
Why do we have to have so many threads about trannies.
And you wonder why people don’t want to buy American cars anymore? There you go. There is no quality control.
But most cars today aren’t made like they used to. They are practically all outsourced that uses parts made in different parts of the globe. In other words the transmission may be made in Japan, the engine made in Europe, and the car assembled in Mexico. There is so many places something can go wrong in that supply chain if the quality control is not top notch.
Good...now do the Ford EXPLODER transmissions...like the that made my beautiful (on the outside) 2010 Ford Explorer a huge paperweight, leaving me $12k in the hole. I am not alone.
How much for the lawyers and how much for the car owners?
The new 2020 Ford Fiasco
$30,000,000 is a total garbage settlement ... if only 100,000 of these known-to-be-faulty vehicles were sold during this time period, then that would be only $300.00 per buyer ...
It’s my understanding that Ford and GM were coworking on a 9 sp auto. For what ever reason Ford dropped out. I bought a Chevy Equinox on New Years Eve, with a 9 sp auto. That is a bad assed transmission. For now at least. I love the car but the gas mileage really sux. 23.1 right now. Damn shitty.
Lawyers make the money, customers get whats left....like a couple bucks.
I wonder how many people.
