Not really. Hawaii would be the closest candidate. However as far as commonwealths, I’d shuck Puerto Rico as it is a perpetually welfare state with never ending corrupt government.

Difficult to know so many States would turn to socialist ideology in the future. The one mistake that has always stood out to me is Texas joining the United States. They should have kept their sovereignty.

There is no state that shouldnt have been invited in. But since youre talking about state-related mistakes, a big mistake was the passing of the 17th Amendment. That amendment allowed for the direct election of U.S. senators.
A bit off-topic, I know.

The only mistake state was Hawaii but Puerto Rico as a protectorate was probably unwise.

Simply removing California makes the US A conservative nation.
It should be given back to Mexico.
Or traded to ISIS for peace.

I’d say no; everything had a reason at the time.
The only mistake that was made as I see it was not crushing the American communist insurgency in it’s infancy before letting them morph into the democrat party of today.
If they’d been stomped into the dirt where they belong several decades ago, we wouldn’t be on the verge of CWII right now.

No, but mistakes have been made.
Slavery was a mistake.
Various mistakes with immigration have been made.
There are serious mistakes being made in the educational system.

Texas but not for the reason one might think. If Texas were a country all the contiguous states would have already seceded.

Its not the landmass, its the a-holes that live there. California was once a hard red state. Immigration changed that.

The differences in states should be our strength. But under the current Federal big government system states are mandated to do to many things that they could handle better on their own.
