Not really. Hawaii would be the closest candidate. However as far as commonwealths, I’d shuck Puerto Rico as it is a perpetually welfare state with never ending corrupt government.

Difficult to know so many States would turn to socialist ideology in the future. The one mistake that has always stood out to me is Texas joining the United States. They should have kept their sovereignty.

There is no state that shouldn’t have been invited in. But since you’re talking about state-related mistakes, a big mistake was the passing of the 17th Amendment. That amendment allowed for the direct election of U.S. senators.

Its not the landmass, its the a-holes that live there. California was once a hard red state. Immigration changed that.

The differences in states should be our strength. But under the current Federal big government system states are mandated to do to many things that they could handle better on their own.
