It’s disturbing all right, but not because of the eyes, IMO.

Therapist: The uncovered face of the Lamb of God in the
Ghent Altarpiece isn't real. It can't hurt you.
Dr Eleanor JanegaWho said it would?

controversy is about lambs face being too human. Looks like restorer took liberties

Sad. How do they let these frauds get hold of priceless artworks?

It seems to me that there is a big difference between restoration and modification with the painting being an obvious example of the latter. I paint and it is amazing how a single brushstroke or color can change the context of a painted object such as a face—human or animal.

Its not the lamb thats giving me nightmares. Its the restoration process. When restoring a painting, volatile chemicals are used. These chemicals are released into the air, and contribute to Global Warming (or Global Cooling, Im not sure which).

The restoration lamb looks less herbivore and more carnivore.

At first I thought they were talking about real 15th century lamb. That would be harder to restore than 15th century wedding cake.
To: Red Badger
Wow that is a seriously crappy job of restoration. Eyes and mouth are totally different in form.

PAINTER:
OK, OK, let me see if I understand what you want?
You want me to paint a man that looks like a sheep?
ENDOWER:
No, I want you to paint a sheep that looks like a man.
PAINTER:
You got it, boss.

As much as I would like to read the entire article, I have no interest in putting money in CNN’s pocket. If everyone here did the same, maybe CNN would go out of business.
