Todays fairly easy CG from
BEAW EZ R ZNELKFWXC, STY KW VTZY IJY AJFDWY YJ ZEID EI YNW BEAWSJRYZ. LWYWF DRU
You can find this little fun word game, to combat early dementia and senility in us baby boomers, in several daily publications.
The way it works is a letter stands for another letter. For example: AXYDLBAAXR is LONGFELLOW (does not apply to today's cryptogram).
Beware, the game is very addictive. If this is your first time, don't be intimidated.
PLEASE DO NOT post the answer in general comments, but DO post your time and any tips you might give the group on how you solve these puzzles as puzzle solvers love to hear how you made out.
You can certainly send your solution to my private reply, or if you need a hint for todays Cryptogram.
If you need a little help you can copy the cryptogram and paste it to Hals Helper below:
You can then work on the puzzle without using pen and paper.
Over the next few days I will list the names of Todays CG puzzle solvers admitted to THE HALL OF FAME
The selection is based on the consistency of effort, fun, creative, sometimes goofy and lively commentary, and their general enthusiasm.
In addition their choice reflects their skill and temerity of purpose in the solving of these daily CGs and their support for this posting.
On February 26th, (The first day of Lent), I will name three Hall of Famers, and give a $25 donation to Free Republic in their behalf.
Congratulations to Today's Cryptogram Hall of Famer: null and void
null and void has been a CG solver almost from the start. As I recall was pretty green at first, but now whips these out like a pro. One of the most supportive followers of the forum. Congratulations!!!
Solution to our last puzzle:
BLESSED ARE THE YOUNG, FOR THEY SHALL INHERIT THE NATIONAL DEBT. -HERBERT HOOVER
Today’s CG comes from the Arkansas Gazette.
5 minutes. I crashed and sank.
I do not think I can be any good at this.
I am still trying to decipher “Cryptogram”....
ha ha, in ‘bout 2 minutes
I’ll toss you a lifesaver.
Make it Wintergreen, please.
Today’s was rather gay, but whatever floats your boat, I suppose...
About 2 min. Got the 2 and third word. Was playing like Gene Kelly to the finish.
I had to restart a few times, but playing with the short words eventually did it.
That did go quick, although after I figured out the first three words, I had that Tom Cochran song stuck in my head.
I could not figure this one out for the life of me.
Then it hit me.
It took a couple of minutes. Not hard.
3 minutes, started out on the wrong course.
I was sunk at first, but I escaped due to the hints.
