Chiefs run out of fireworks at Arrowhead Stadium during 51-point scoring blitz in playoff win over Texans
CBS Sports ^ | January 13, 2020 | Gabriel Fernandez

In case there was a need for further proof that absolutely no one saw the Chiefs' 51-point onslaught against the Texans coming, the pyrotechnics crew at Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday had that covered. Late in the fourth quarter, images of the scoreboard began circulating online of an apology to fans attending the game that the traditional post-touchdown fireworks would have to stop because, well, there were none left.

I read for the first time in NFL playoff history a team more than 20 points went on to win by more than 20 points. Bill O'Brien should just resign after that. His fake punt call after not going for it on 4th and short in an earlier drive is a fireable offense.

I thought my bet was lost after the first quarter. I thought there was no way they would get to the moneyline bet which is what I had..let alone the spread.

Too bad the Ravens couldn’t have done the same.

As a Red Raider we loved him at Texas Tech, the guy has always lit up the scoreboard. Say over under on the game was 50 points, KC got 51

Mahomes is often exceeding 30 or 40 points - and this is the playoffs. The stadium management should have been prepared!

What a crazy game. I left when it was 24 zip Texans to run some errands. I came back to see that the Chiefs had put 44 points on the board since then.

you must have be So Shocked!!

I know guys that placed Massive bets to get a 10 percent return after Houston went up 24.

They thought it was easy money.

Some bet 10s of thousands at that point.

I had 20 bucks on all the games lol

He lost the game when he did not go for it on the 4th and inches early in the 2nd quarter. With a 21-0 lead, the cloack is already your friend; scoring at that point is almost secondary. If you make that few inches, KC does not get the ball until 7-8 minutes left in the half, down by 28-0 and even cakes probably does not make that up...

This was the biggest playoff choke since 1993 when the Houston Oilers lost to the Pats after taking a 35-3 lead. Something about those Houston teams.

Next weekend’s Final Four for the NFL will be a fairly historic one with:
1961-Houston Oilers/Tennessee Titans-1961 AFL champions, with first and only Super Bowl appearance in XXXIV against St. Louis Rams in 1999 season.
1969-Kansas City Chiefs-Last Super Bowl appearance and win was in Super Bowl IV against Minnesota (last AFL versus NFL Super Bowl).
1994-San Francisco 49ers-Last Super Bowl win was XXIX against San Diego Chargers and last appearance was in Super Bowl XLVII (2012 season) against Baltimore Ravens.
2010-Green Bay Packers-Last Super Bowl appearance and win was in Super Bowl XLV against Pittsburgh Steelers.

I still believe the Oilers would be in Houston if not for that choke.

If the Chiefs and Packers win next weekend, we’ll get a rematch of Super Bowl I.

That’s why they say “you can never have enough ammo...”....same goes with fireworks.

My son was there and he said the Fireworks notice appeared on the Jumbo-tron and then there were fireworks after the final score. Pretty good joke in my opinion.

We DVR’d the game then went out to dinner.

When We came back I already knew that KC had won, but all I knew was the score.

I watched the first half, fast forwarding thru commercials and stuff and wondered if I had heard the radio wrong......................

B52 aerial bomber Mahomes is the most exciting player in the NFL.He has this amazing ability to throw sideways like a shortstop completing the back end of a double play when he is scrambling out of a jam. Anyone QB responsible for a 65 to 63 scoring game like he was at Texas Tech is a winner in my book...and he doesn’t even kneel during the national anthem. lol
