Today’s Cryptogram

Posted on 01/10/2020 3:55:56 AM PST by nikos1121

From today’s Arkansas Gazette. Anything under 8 minutes is good, under 4 is excellent, and 2 minute or less is extraordinary.

PNVZUPM ZJHHGPA UP BWUBEGV, GOGW. GOGP VZG ZUMZIUMZVA WGAGDKIG J YWGGLG YWJDG. —BZJWIUG KWNNEGW

You can find this little fun word game, to combat early dementia and senility in us baby boomers, in several daily publications.

The way it works is a letter stands for another letter. For example: AXYDLBAAXR is LONGFELLOW (does not apply to today's cryptogram).

Beware, the game is very addictive. If this is your first time, don't be intimidated.

PLEASE DO NOT post the answer in general comments, but DO post your time and any tips you might give the group on how you solve these puzzles as puzzle solvers love to hear how you made out.

You can certainly send your solution to my private reply, or if you need a hint for today’s Cryptogram.

TOPICS: Chit/Chat
KEYWORDS: brain; cryptogram; puzzle; todayscryptogram
If you're just starting out on these, be patient, as you'll be proficient in no time.

If you need a little help you can copy the cryptogram and paste it to Hal’s Helper below:

You can then work on the puzzle without using pen and paper.

Common letter helps finding the short words, and that opens it up…

About 2 min. GOGW at end of sentence and GOGP at start of sentence got me going. Nothing was frozen until all the letters were filled in.

bout 2 mins.
Wasn’t quite sure if I solved it correctly so I resolved it. What is the author talkin’ about? Then it dawned that that one buggy word was not what I thought it was.

Game’s afoot. Sherlock Holmes.

I know of only one guy. He’s an Indian who runs a local gas station here in Georgia. He goes nuts over the sport.

He says it’s the most popular sport there....

amazing...

5 minutes today, it didn’t come together quickly but I wasn’t bored by the puzzle either.

Don’t laugh. My husband and I got strangely addicted to Indian cricket two years ago. We used to watch ESPN/Sports Center in the mornings while he was getting ready for work, now we watch all forms/types of cricket....

That said, it is slightly boring :)
