Welcome to The Bicycle Thread. A monthly PING List for bicycle enthusiasts to share experiences, information and ideas.
“If bicyclists would be just a little bit less arrogant, a little bit more circumspect, a little bit more observant of bicycle paths, and a little bit less self-righteous...”
You left out...”obey the traffic laws”.
This thread is for bicyclists enthusiasts.
How about you take your road rage and emotional problems to another thread.
You left out...”obey the traffic laws”.Funny coming from "moovova" (move-over)
Okay.
I was going to earlier but I was laughing too hard.
Happy Trails!
Do I need to babysit you all day online?
You do get credit for deciphering my "handle" though... ;-)

When all metalworking and oil production is banned.
I liked the Varsity more than the better looking Paramount because of the wheels and tires. Better for curb jumping. Not as speedy but that was OK.
The bike got swiped sometime in ‘71.
I know its parked outside one of the men’s dorms...
I'm hardly a lardass. I'm a mt. biker and road biker (no centuries, but 30 to 50 miles is a reasonable day). But avoid the folks who like to ride in groups like the plague. I don't get people who need to get in a group and ride 4 abreast on busy roads. Annoys the hell out of me.
But when I'm out by myself on the road, the drivers never bother me or honk, except for a friendly toot if I'm on a fast downhill to let me know they are there. We have great back roads here, with lots of twists and hills. Now, from the driver's POV, coming down one of these hills around a blind corner in a fully laden dump truck and finding a trundling peloton coming up the other way spread completely across both sides of the road will put the pucker in your seat, but not as much as it will the folks over the yellow line in your path. They would stand no chance against the logging trucks which frequent these parts.
Roadies can be extremely clueless. But then, so can mountains bikers. I've seen idiots who don't know the proper protocol when encountering equestrian riders with whom we sometimes share paths.
I avoid group rides. Almost impossible to keep larger groups together and people start to take risks. Rather I go out with 4-6 friends who I trust, know how to ride, hold a line and keeps gaps constant, and dont take risks. And when I drop the hammer can keep up (or put me on the rivet).
no you can take a break and practice on your raining wheels
You have serious rage issues, trolling in a thread for bicyclists.
Looks very well done,
Thanks for the link.
Does yer list include electric bikes?? If so, please add me.
We are polite and friendly to drivers.
That said, there are some (even on this thread) that hate bikers even in small groups (if they are seen). I have friends who hate bikers of all size groups.
I feel safer in a small group of bikers as opposed to riding alone because we are more visible. A single biker on a lonely road may or may not be seen by someone on the phone or (God forbid) texting.
I have been biking for over 30 years and have actually never seen or been part of a large peloton that intentionally hogged the road. That doesn't mean they don't exist, just that I haven't had the experience of riding with them.
Yes indeed,
