A systematic review and meta-analysis led by St. Michael's Hospital of Unity Health Toronto found children who drank whole milk had 40 per cent lower odds of being overweight or obese compared with children who consumed reduced-fat milk.
The research, published in The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, analyzed 28 studies from seven countries that explored the relationship between children drinking cow's milk and the risk of being overweight or obese. None of the studieswhich involved a total almost 21,000 children between the ages of one and 18 years oldshowed that kids who drank reduced-fat milk had a lower risk of being overweight or obese. Eighteen of the 28 studies suggested children who drank whole milk were less likely to be overweight or obese.
The findings challenge Canadian and international guidelines that recommend children consume reduced-fat cow milk instead of whole milk starting at age two to reduce the risk of obesity.
"In our review, children following the current recommendation of switching to reduced-fat milk at age two were not leaner than those consuming whole milk."
Dr. Maguire, who is also a scientist at the MAP Centre for Urban Health Solutions, next hopes to establish the cause and effect of whole milk and lower risk of obesity in a randomized controlled trial.
"All of the studies we examined were observational studies, meaning that we cannot be sure if whole milk caused the lower risk of overweight or obesity. Whole milk may have been related to other factors which lowered the risk of overweight or obesity," Dr. Maguire said.
"A randomized controlled trial would help to establish cause and effect but none were found in the literature."

Our cows didn’t have red caps on their teats. I never drank milk from the store till I was in college.
From Internet- "Sweet milk, its name is kind of misleading. Upon doing research I have discovered that sweet milk is basically just your plain whole milk.
Why the confusion with the name then you ask? Well it turns out that whole milk used to be called sweet milk back then just because people had to label it to distinguish it from other kinds of milk used for cooking, specifically buttermilk.
Since whole milk comes with a sweeter taste than that of buttermilk, it was given the name sweet milk, which was then dropped today.
Except for Mothers milk, I havent drank milk in 70 years. Yuk!! Gross.
....
Yeah, but I cant get that anymore...
So you can debunk what I said? Go ahead. Ill wait.
I’m 75. Still drinking whole milk. Weight 114 the same as when I was 18. BP 119/65. No chips or soda.
This was the first metastudy.
Rice milk, oatmilk , flax milk, almond milk, cashew milk,. All options that are so much better for you. Cows milk is hazardous to humans. It is not intended for our consumption.

“Whole Milk that is NOT Homogenized is best”
Does “homogenized” mean the same thing as “pasteurized”?
Years ago I worked in a health food store where the proprietoress was selling unpasteurized milk “under the table” as it was a violation of state law.
She gave me a taste, and I was addicted! But she acknowledged with a straight face that a bad batch could make me die— or want to.
And what do you think all those farm kids, like my parents and grandparents drank. Drinking cows milk probably saved millions of lives, too.
The binding capacity of nut “milk” is quite alarming. Want to lower your sex hormones.... drink nut milk. Could explain the gender problems in ages where the sex hormones are most critical.
“Cows milk is hazardous to humans.”
Really? Can you back that up in ANY way?
It is actually cow milk and dairy that messes with hormones.

Be best.
Well for starters there was a link in the very post that you just replied to. Did you read it?
Of Course. I absolutely knew 100% that you were not going to reply to me with any information whatsoever.
Once again, the experts have been proven wrong. Its NOT the fat, its the carbs that are the problem.
Cup for cup, whole fat milk contains fewer carbohydrates than low-fat or skim because more of its volume is made up of fat, which does not contain lactose. So if you listened to the experts and replaced whole milk for lower fat versions you were inadvertently increasing your carb intake which is the road to obesity and/or Type 2 diabetes.
Few do.
Everything you just said is wrong.

LOW CARB / KETO PING!!!
Once again, the ‘experts’ pushing low-fat are proven wrong...likely the same ‘experts’ telling people that Keto is unhealthy because it’s a high-fat diet.
On a personal note, just went to McDonald’s for dinner and bought 4 Quarter Pounders with Cheese...threw out the buns, and really enjoyed the meal - and something tells me I’m not
alone. It would sure be nice if McDonald’s and Burger King realized that there are likely 10 times as many people trying to stay away from carbs as their are people interested in that plant-based crap...but I suspect that they’re scared of the Left coming down on them.
[p.s., anyone wanting to join, or leave, my Low-Carb ping list, just let me know, privately or publicly]
Im so sick of keto propaganda. It is a stupid dangerous fad.
