I live out in the country. My TV options suck. No cable and only Dish Network or DirecTV (AT&T). And my internet options sucked even bigger. Satellite service with maybe 25 mbps. Monthly costs were about $130.00. Each. Over $260.00 a month for low rate TV and internet.
But finally! My electric company finally got Fiber internet service available. Unlimited data with plans from 25 - 50 - 75 - 150 - 300 - even more mbps. So now I'm satellite free and ecstatic. I picked the 150 mbps plan at $80.00 per month.
But now, what about TV? There's no cable, but even I as a neophyte know that streaming is the only way to go. Even if cable was available - who needs it?
I knew that Sling TV was an option; but what else? I started my homework and did my research and found there are several good internet streaming options out there. But the best?
Google YouTube TV.
$49.00 per month. Including local channels, tons of sports channels, and most cable channels like TLC, HGTV, and etc.
Just Wow! I hope our moderators view this more as a review. I'm not shilling for Google, I'm just pointing out the positives.
Can’t deal with foreign language films. CC is annoying as sh**.
I recently moved to town from the country, so I know your pain. I chose You Tube TV for $49/mo and since I already had Amazon Prime, it was no additional cost. I pay $44/mo for the internet connection. I bought a ROKU device (it’s middleware) to link to the internet and I was in business with over 95% of what I had on DISH with much, much more.
Lots of free movies and rentals when I really want something (Chernobyl was my first rental). Lots of free channels via ROKU. I can find many TV series, including HBO and Showtime if I’m willing to wait for old seasons, usually one year old. I am a history and documentary nut, so this is beyond my wildest dreams including BBC documentary series that were never on cable or satellite.
I chose YouTube TV over hulu because it had Fox Sports Network that carry the Royals games (and most other MLB teams) It also gave me local TV stations, including Chiefs. Hulu has the same, but no Fox Sports network, when I last checked. I haven’t found One Americas Network yet for streaming, but the big stories can be found on You Tube (free).
There are other choices for the middleware piece, google to find what you want. Once you have it hooked up, google to find out what free channels are available. I have a growing collection including Google Pay (rent), You Tube (free),PBS, Apple TV (rent and free stuff), XUMO (free), Pluto (free), Roku Channel (free), Skynews (UK free), Film Rise (free)
I find most of what I want on either YouTube TV or You Tube. In spite of the FR reports of banning conservative stuff on You Tube, I have found most is on there, including Levin, Tucker Carlson, OAN, things on Impeachment that was never on Fox News, etc. Search is your friend in this situation.
I hate using YoutubeTV because of google but you for me it’s the best deal around. Sony is dead now.
Lots of TCM On Demand, and this year the sports have been spectacular. CBS Sports for auto racing, and tons of Football. You get 3 concurrent streams and the Recording is great.
It takes a while to bet used to how they do it but after a month or so it’s great.
I wish they had Lifetime. Nothing like a little brain dead movies watching.
More selection, better service than google tv or youtube tv.
Did you mean One America News? Roku has that channel.
To each his own. Being deaf, CC/subtitle is required for whatever domestic or foreign program I watch.
Just say no to disabling adblockers for free tv
They also don’t have the Hallmark Channel. Not that I care, but Mrs. R2 does. It’s a must have.
Fortunately Roku has 2 apps for the Hallmark Channel. One regular. One premium. I ponied up the extra 5 bucks for the premium. Gotta keep Mama happy.
For what?
Seriously? How can you tell which show is which?
For browsing the web.
We have Hulu TV streaming with the Disney and ESPN package. Great for while we are cruising the ICW.
Hallmark Movies Now has past and current movies. The Hallmark Movies and Hallmark Mysteries cable channels are available on Frendly, Philo and SllngTV.

A streaming service will offer a menu of shows.
On Netflix, Ive been enjoying the telenovela Clone. Mexican actress Sandra Echevarria is a total hottie.
Philo is the only one that offers complete support for cable channels Everywhere TV apps.
Those are cable channel apps you login with your authenticated provider to watch back seasons of your favorite shows.
Thanks, found it. $4.99/mo
Thanks. I have Fox News on YouTube TV.
