I draw everybody's attention to the comments section, which, though "moderated" (read "censored) seems, by the arrow factors, to show a great deal of empathy for this woman who murdered her children over some sort of mental conflict. The prevailing sentiment is one of understanding, even sympathy, for whatever inner turmoil led to her ending the lives of her own children in such a brutal manner.

She’s already on psych meds. It’s the case every time.

Shes already on psych meds. Its the case every time. But that's not the point I was trying to make by posting the article. Look at the comments. Nothing but empathy for her "plight."

She was a director at a big drug company, so if anybody could afford mental health treatment it was her.

Why do parents have to murder their kids over their own problems?

The children’s terror, and then the people who had to clean up that mess on Christmas day.

Why do parents have to murder their kids over their own problems?I'm only throwing a guess, but maybe they feel as if others should join in their pain? And what better people than those you gave birth to.

Mothers who murder their children do it to punish the father of the children.

Why do parents have to murder their kids over their own problems? Because it's a big attention getter. And to know that is to know that the decision to commit the crime was a rational one, calculated to effect a certain end, namely to highlight the woes of the perpetrator.

So no meds for psychotics? I really don't think this woman was psychotic. She knew exactly what she wanted to do, and why she wanted to do it.

The parking garage is the same one where a college student leaped to his death in October in a suicide his girlfriend is now being charged for.
What exactly is the charge?

It seems to be a common media portrayal that a man who murders his family members, and then kills himself is evil, scheming, and awful in just about every possible way. When a mother murders her children, and then kills herself the media portrays it as the sad consequence of mental illness. Both actions probably include a major component of mental illness, along with some evil motivations.
I think the media find it harder to imagine a mother killing her family than a father doing the same thing, a natural consequence of stereotypes assigned to men and women.
To: Mr Ramsbotham
Murder suicide. They always do it in the wrong order.
