The Green New Deal is visionary approach to climate politics and American life. If passed, it would completely transform how Americans live from where we call home to how we get our power to the fundamental outline of the economy. Its no small thing, and frankly, I get why it can be scary to some.
The path weve walked down since the start of the Industrial Revolution has treated humanity well on some level. And a fossil fueled-economy is modern orthodoxy.
Now, it could be the thing that ends up undoing centuries of human progress. While small changes around the margin may have been helpful a few decades ago, now the world needs to radically transform itself. Like I said, scary. But it doesnt have to be.
Weve had a look at what the broad outlines of a Green New Deal suite of policies look likerapid decarbonization, a healthcare system that shifts in tandem with the societal changes, housing for all, a just transition for fossil fuel workers and frontline communitiesbut a policy vision doesnt always translate easily into a societal one.

So: electricity will cost five times as much and will be severely rationed. We won’t be able to support an industrial economy, but we can just buy everything from China. The standard of living will revert to a 1900 level. But we’ll have inspirational posters to make us feel good about it. And everything will be communal, except for the politically connected who will continue to live well, but that won’t be in the posters.
Its unnerving how much the author buys into the climate change propaganda. He might as well be from a different planet.
Outlaw toilet paper!

Translation: We’re going back to a feudal system with the coastal elites being the lords.
Meet the Flintstones
“There is a new generation in charge and they have been inculcated to believe this crap.”
Those of that new generation that make it into power positions will destroy what we have built. Those of that same generation that are left behind to do menial tasks...will be the ones pushing us geezers around in wheelchairs at the old folks homes.
I hope not to be pushed around anywhere.
I am still working on a plan. Just like so many before, I hope to succeed where others have failed.
Fascination with the agitprop graphic style has been around since I studied advertising art and design many years ago. It started as a ginchy retro smirk, then graduated to a mainstream but clueless reference with Shepard Fairy et al, now it’s accepted by a generation of Americans as something vaguely cool with no context. When I was a kid, soviet and communist poster art was a standing joke, we laughed at the phony sincerity and obvious play-on-emotions of the visuals. Like old advertising that showed a doctor smoking and quoting “Camel calms your nerves”, the art was served up for ridicule instead of inspiration. Now designers mimic it without any critical reservations. To sum up, these modern graphic artists are dangerously clueless and under-informed.
They will do nothing of substance. They will continue to ban plastic and add taxes to meat. I see them doing this to make lives miserable.
Just in time when drugs are becoming legal. Wow: where were you when this would have made sense.
Haha.
“These Posters Show What a Green New Deal Could Look Like”
and these posters show the Soviet Worker’s Paradise, and we all know how well that worked out:

The posters are openly advocating a return to slavery.
When I was in elementary school, we were taught that, more than anything else, the invention of the internal combustion engine and concomitant mechanization of labor, enabled slaves to be freed and to be full participants in the capitalist system.
The Greenies who are hollering for the abandonment of fossil fuels are advocating nothing less than a return to forced manual laborers paid a bare subsistence— slavery.
