1) move far away from those cities.
2) soda and popcorn. Lawn chair.
3) watch the horizon glow.
You can’t prepare, but our inept and impotent gov’t is actually facilitating this if it ever happens.

Iodine - KI (potassium iodide) is what we were issued when TMI melted down, many years ago.

That’s what people don’t get who mock desk drills. It was for people like you who were a survivable distance outside of the blast zone. Kids were under desks to protect them from flying glass from the shockwave. And to give little kids a sense of security and the sense that the adults were in control of the situation.

I live 12 miles -the way a bird flys- from NYC. Probably OK here, but just the thought of a nuclear attack anywhere is unsettling.
