Sad situation.
Brother blaming cops in his angry gofundme page. I get it.
But the cops had to take these guys out for public safety.
Maybe, but I'd like to hear more details. Whose gun was responsible for the civilian drivers death? And whose gun was responsible for the UPS drivers death? If it was the cops, then there is an argument that maybe taking out 'these guys' should have been handled differently?
“But the cops had to take these guys out for public safety.”
You’re very accommodating. Good citizenship. The brother should take your lesson.
Did the cops have to let the van get into heavy traffic? I don’t know how long the chase took, or if there was any way to get ahead of it.
I don’t know if the cops were taking cover behind a private vehicle moving next to the UPS van, or if that was an unmarked police car.
It’s too early to blame anyone but the robbers, but there are real questions here, about police procedures.
And the woman in the jewelry store. Whose bullet hit her, robber’s, or owner’s?
Did you watch the video?
The cops were taking cover behind civilian vehicles. THAT HAD PEOPLE IN THEM! And shooting into another vehicle with a hostage inside, killing him and killing a motorist stranded in the line of fire. Over jewelry.
What a sh*t show.
Florida law enforcement.
Shoot first, figure it all out later.
I would be asking the regular route driver who called in sick a lot of questions... a mere coincidence?
On another Thread someone said that the Perps had killed a Woman at the Jewelry Store which they concluded led to the Cops actions. That now appears to be false.
WTH were the Cops thinking, they were in the OK Corral?
Anyone got Odds that the UPS Driver as well as the guy in the Car were killed by “friendly fire”?
Wow, talk about dragging out work to maximize a pension. While I might be doing this myself to maximize SS, there is no reason for the reporter to add this tidbit into the story.
Yikes!
.
Moral of the story: do not shoot guns on the freeway. Wow. The police in Florida need to visit Los Angeles, ride along with CHP on five car chases, and then go home after the weekend.
I’m thinking that a jewelry heist that just happened to occur on the day a certain UPS driver calls out sick makes that driver a potential accomplice.
Our fabled Justice System at work, once again. WHY in the Hell were they loose, especially after committing felonies? Probation? Bail?
It seems the Justice System shirks it's duty and recycles these violent people back into Society, perhaps hoping the CCWs will take care of the problem, if not, the police, who seem at first blush to have been trigger-happy.
Yeah, lets start a shootout in the middle of a busy freeway and kill a couple of innocent people. “For public safety’ after all.
Hard to know the hypothetical, but my view is always that the cops should do EVERYTHING to avoid having innocent public caught in a crossfire or cause a serious or deadly traffic accident.
These guys hadn’t killed anyone at that point. It was just stuff that they tried to steal. There was already an evidentiary trail at the store. They should have used it and surveillance such as news or police helicopter to get them out of highway and citizen congestion. Anything to avoid the stupid mad shootout and chase that ended with 2 innocents caught in the crossfire.
