EXCLUSIVE: Fired Starbucks manager Lola Rose considering lawsuit over ‘PIG’ cup fallout

“Not to discount the situation, and someone needs to be reprimanded for it but I feel like we could’ve handled this like adults, it created a very threatening situation for this store,” she said.

She spoke to her direct managers Thursday night about the incident and filed a report, but was notified the following day that she was being let go after nine months on the job.

“I was hysterical. I lost it, truly,” Rose said. “I was driving to get the money order to move into my first apartment. My whole world crashed in front of me. I begged them to let me speak to one of the higher-ups.”

Rose, who is a transgender college student, said that she had always wanted to work for Starbucks because of how they treat employees.

She applied more than five times to secure her dream job, which provided specialized healthcare for transgender people and offered college tuition assistance, she said.

Rose now fears how she will cover her hormone treatments and pay for her rent.

“It was supposed to be my guardian angel,” Rose said. “They were supposed to be there for me as much as I am there for them but it’s gone because a small-town officer was offended by something [and couldn’t think like an adult] and posted to Facebook.”

Free coffee and an occasional donut insured a quick response whenever we had a problem.

Yeah my daughter was a barista and made the "mistake" of attempting to charge an officer for his coffee when she was new on the job. She said he talked to her like she was crap after that.

No, but he was the manager who was responsible for the store and working when it happened and there may be more to the story.

Something doesn’t add up to me. She/He was the Shift Supervisor at the time, and probably the most senior person in the store. She/He claims they told the employee who wrote “PIG” on the order it was wrong, etc. and offered to re-make the order and reported to the district manager/corporate and still got fired.

If I were in their shoes when that happened, I would have dealt with fixing the order for the customer first, then immediately suspended the employee who entered “PIG” into the computer. Then a phone call to the Store Manager to advise them of what happened, followed by the official report. I doubt she/he had hire/fire authority, but they can suspend an employee for a higher-up to address later.

Probably would have saved their job, assuming they were telling the truth they were not involved in any other way.

Well, on the other hand, you put your life on the line to protect and serve, and you can’t even get an overpriced cup of coffee without some overpaid, entitled millenial calling you a PIG in writing on your cup.

Sure, it isn’t a “big deal”, but it is an indication of how young people have been brainwashed to dehumanize those they disagree with, much like Germany before WW2.

I think she was, and the police chief was fighting to get her re-hired. But it isn’t clear, because the manager is the one making all the sob story complaints trying to get people to donate money to her, rather than to starving children.
