To all thnx for the help.
I learned a few things that should help!
Sounds like the dealer never took it out of your name.
There is a chance the vehicle was totaled in a crash and sold for salvage.
Bad actors used the VIN to build another vehicle.
Going to dealer Monday am
The vin# is visible from looking into the front windshield, drivers side on most cars.
I had my truck towed because of past due parking tickets...I could not afford to pay them at that time to get my truck out of impound. So I went to Mayor Willy Browns office, and told the guy at the front desk my story. He called parking enforcement, informing them he was calling from the mayors office, I was able to get my truck out that day without paying a penny.
In some states, including mine, outstanding parking tickets mean no renewal of your driver’s license as well.
It just proves how stupid government workers are.
I remember when I sold our Saturn car directly to a private party, I logged onto the state DOL (department of Licensing) web-site where I could inform the state of the sale of my car.
All my other cars were trade-in’s for new cars, and never had a problem. I did not bother informing the state. The dealer must have taken care of ownership transfer.
Both you and Kamala Harris have benefited from Willy Brown lol.
Not a good idea - what if more "incidents" come up in the future.
For some reason, I dont think we are getting the full story here. Parts of it make no sense.
“The ticket goes with the car. Not the owner.”
Next time I will tell the judge to collect from my car!
ROTFLMAO!
How do you even know what the facts are since the OP is not telling!
“Find a local Ft. Lauderdale TV consumer reporter and see if they will tell your story. “
Too many unanswered questions. How about some facts!
“File a stolen vehicle report with the cops. “
ROTFLMAO!
He is not the owner, so he claims.
I've only gotten one parking ticket and that was in Washington DC about 25 years ago. I knew I was never going back there so I never paid it and so far so good!
Just pay it. Before they add on the fees for not paying on time. It’s a crime, but what are you gonna do?
Similar thing happened to me in the 80s. Went up to $300, from $45. So I just paid it.
Later on,I read in the newspaper that some corrupt politician was citing tickets fraudulently. I was never in that place at that time.
True story.
Tell them to impound it
Since you’re going to the dealer Monday you should have THEM run the CarFax to have THEM (The responsible (actually irresponsible) party) figure out what they did wrong.
