Many residents commented on the Facebook post, questioning the legality of the officers actions, with one user writing I thought this was illegal, and another saying that an officer serves the law and the constitution, not a party.
Ramos commented on the post, saying that the officer wearing the lanyard was not in compliance with NYPD policy. For the record, the lanyard is against NYPD regulations and the police officer is a member of the Vice Squad not any of our local precincts.
Ramos later posted a statement about the incident to her own Facebook page. She said the check-in turned into an act of intimidation toward transgender, gender non-conforming, queer, black, indigenous, brown and undocumented people those who are most marginalized by our society.
She continued, This was not just any party. It was a safe space for our LatinX queer youth.

And...?
He’s everybody’s President. Deal with it.
I take it that being “LatinX queer youth” doesn’t mean that they are young honor students, studying Latin.
These people are sick! Suffering from TDS.
I guess the Log Cabin Republicans don’t hold their meetings there.

So, everybody except straight white Christian men is marginalized. Got it. Sucks to be you then.
If queers insist on not being intimidated, they should stay in the closet
From my perspective it’s shut up or get back in the closet, when I start running around going out of my way to express the fact i’m hetersexual i’ll be willing to listen to their endless whining about their being any particular arrangement of the alphabet. Until that time SHUT UP!
Message to State Senator Ramos: Go to he!!.
Out of curiosity, where did their fear and anxiety, about POTUS, come from? What did he do? What has he said? Are they mad that he doesn’t want grown men in a womens/girls bathroom? He doesn’t think taxpayers should foot the bill for a sex change?
In a former life, I lived in Jackson Heights, Queens. A basement apartment in the home of a little old Balkan couple, at 8016 25th Avenue. The wife had a small flower garden beside the house, and had fantastic roses. I was a hick from York County, PA. Every day I commuted in to lower Manhattan where I was an IBM mechanic. Had a girlfriend in Woodside. The memories are almost unbelievable.
Dear ever whining liberals,
There is a phrase, “Life sucks, then you die”
Open your eyes, there are many, many more people who oppose and resent the “in your face” attitude and bullying tactics your kind uses then you would ever imagine. The great majority and unfortunately the weaker among us are frightened to let their feelings be known publicly but they do speak more loudly in the voting booth as you learned 3 yrs ago.
I just wonder how empty your life has to be in order to get all worked up over a lanyard.
Somebody tell me what a Trump lanyard is and what it said that got these noses so out of joint.
The snowflakes are melting in the sun...
And if the guy was wearing an NYPD lanyard, there'd be no problem at all.
Nope, everything would be just fine. Right.
The silly whining of the gays aside, the lanyard was not appropriate as the officer was in uniform. So no Trump lanyards, no de Blasio armbands, no Cuomo lapel pins, etc.
Now, if the cop was out of uniform - even if under cover - that would be a different story.
NOW you are worried about whats illegal??
