Well, the whole domestication process is a work in progress. It'll take some time before cats develop appreciation for the benefits of refrigeration and ziploc bags and whatnot.
Obviously, this will take some time.

I have owned several cats, none have ever tossed up twice their body weight when hurling.

“... cats can throw up twice their own weight when they are sick.”
“And always at 4 AM.”
And they purposefully AIM for carpeting, versus tile or wooden flooring!

Then you have had unusual cats.
Most can time travel and throw up food they have yet to eat.

I’ve had my cat two years, got her as a very young kitten. She has NEVER had a hairball. She does eat cat grass and then sometimes barfs it back up, but I don’t see any hair in it.
I do brush her every day. A really soft cat brush from CHEWY.com. She comes over and rolls on the floor, begging to be brushed.
What a darling kitty girl? Well, if you don’t count scratching and biting me when I don’t play with her Cat Dancer.

I can’t find when this was produced but most times it is months to a year before a recall is issued. IOW, long after the product has been eaten.
