How many FReepers have lost or strained relationships with family, friends, co-workers, etc. because of your support for Trump and/or for being a conservative? Clearly, there is a lot of actual hatred out there, and it has already turned violent. The left want to remove a duly elected US President, because they don't like him. They don't care about the opinions of their fellow citizens who voted for him and support him, and they are perfectly willing to disenfranchise them - or worse. I thought having people weigh in about their experiences would help to understand how widespread this is, and how deep the split in the US is.
>>I nuked Passover. If Hitler had a D next to his name you would vote for him.

I’m not Jewish but I think I’d like to attend YOUR Passover. LOL.
“I realized a while back that politics trumps everything - friendship, family, religion, race...”
You’re right. I know that’s true for me. I would marry outside of my race and religious denomination before I’d marry a liberal. No kidding.
Yeah; actually “propane” kinda made sense. LOL!
I agree with one of the comments made that often there is something else, beyond the politics but connected to the politics that leads to the hate.
My friend has looked down his nose at blue collar people, rural people, people who go into the military (’they just like to play with guns’) etc.. His world view has been painted by his belief that living in the city, watching the ‘correct news’ (i.e. CNN and Maddow etc), and being a college educated liberal distinguish you as ‘smart’ and worthy of air vs. those dumb people who want to live in the country or suburbs, and who would rather work in their yards than to flag down a cab to go to dinner in the city.
In dealing with people, everyone discriminates among people in the context of choosing friends.
Discrimination means noticing similarities and differences among people, and classifying people on the basis of those similarities and differences.
Each individual person has his own standard which he applies when he discriminates.
For some people, politics is the essential or fundamental characteristic that they use as their standard when choosing friends.
Amen!
Thank-you!....Bless you!
I have a cousin I use to be close too @20 years ago who has gone to the liberal dark side. I might give a shit about if he finally pulls his head out of his arse. Otherwise, all I can say is ..well.bye.
And to think this is all took place in Pismo beach made famous by the Marx brothers...amazing..Just joking!
Their churlishness is amusing.
_______________
Actually it is not amusing.
These are the people who will kill you and yours if we go all Rwanda....and there is a good chance we will.
Keep a list of who is that mad. So you can know where and who to avoid.
“Be polite, be professional, but have a plan to kill everybody you meet.”
Don’t worry - I have a plan ;’}
And Bless you, also.
Happy belated birthday, Scarpetta!
Somehow propane worked too ;’}
I agree. I had to dump two 50+ year friendships because they simply could not stop sending me garbage articles and hateful comments about Trump, even knowing I and another family member supported and worked for his campaign. I had not bothered them when they voted Democrat, but they did not extend the same respect to me after a couple of warnings and requests to avoid the topic. I concluded that they simply did not value the things I most value, Christ Jesus chief among them, and the respect, discretion, forebearance, truth, accountability and love that flow from the privilege of devotion to Him. One claims Episcopalianism and the other, Presbyteriansim. Both those old-line denominations have gone full-tilt LGBTQ.
And now that I think of it, both drink too much.
So true!
Same here, and same towards whomever my offspring bring home.
Thanks! I hope to lay in my casket with a face full of deep wrinkles!
I may just stay home alone this year. I just cannot take them and their constant harping about "orange man bad!" anymore......
Well and good!
My approach is, "I'll be late to my own funeral"having a chronic OCD / lateness habit the decades have never mended.
