How many FReepers have lost or strained relationships with family, friends, co-workers, etc. because of your support for Trump and/or for being a conservative? Clearly, there is a lot of actual hatred out there, and it has already turned violent. The left want to remove a duly elected US President, because they don't like him. They don't care about the opinions of their fellow citizens who voted for him and support him, and they are perfectly willing to disenfranchise them - or worse. I thought having people weigh in about their experiences would help to understand how widespread this is, and how deep the split in the US is.

I can’t believe this has happened to me with so called long term friendships.
I have not one, NOT ONE!, liberal/demoKKKrat/communist friend from childhood, or relative, RELATIVE!!!, that I am still in contact with! NOT ONE!!! THEIR CHOICE, THEIR IRRATIONAL, UNCONTROLLABLE, DERANGED HATRED. A PROFOUND MENTAL DISORDER THAT I WOULD NEVER HAVE BELIEVED POSSIBLE. TRULY INSANE.
I’m in the same boat — best friend for decades and there is a split. I put it down to politics, but there is another tension underneath (maybe competition, rivalry) where politics is used as a club to beat your opponent. People are complex and sometimes there is more than one motive. Sometimes other people like a wife or another friend can also exacerbate the problem or help resolve the problem. Yes, politics is the obvious cause and field of battle, but I think there can also be more under the surface — at least in my case.
My question in all this to freepers (I too have lost contacts because of my trump support)...
How many of these TDS people are truly regenerate Christians?
My personal observation...none. Some claim some spiritual belief, but their lives declare that they’re lost.

Exactly. One’s politics flows into all other aspects of their lives. Merely tiptoeing around politics isn’t enough to hide all the differences.
Freeloaders, drunks, pot heads, name droppers, in your face bull dykes and patent leather tassel shoe wearing gays, pervs, etc. don’t need to be at my table for Thanksgiving or any other day. If our Thanksgiving table is smaller, then it can be refilled with like minded people who I don’t dread having to be around.
When they rant and foam tell them “Buy bullets, I am...”
I’ve had one liberal brother write me off, which I consider a blessing. I was tired of receiving his propaganda and anti-Christian books. The other liberal brother is slowly becoming more extreme. It’s only a matter of time.
As for my family, I'm looking forward to Thanksgiving with them because if there's one thing we all have in common, it's everyone's hatred of Pelosi, Schiff and the entire democrat party. As a side note, three members are naturalized citizens, two from Canada and one from Honduras.
One sister and brother-in-law are at odds with me regarding firearms and AR-15's but since they know EXACTLY where I stand on the issue and the 2nd Amendment, those topics no longer come up in conversation since we would be doing nothing but rehashing old arguments.

I realized a while back that politics trumps everything - friendship, family, religion, race...
I also realized why. It’s because politics at its core is about perceived self interests at a grand scale. As long as people perceive their self interest similarly, then you have relative peace. But once it becomes polarized then it’s a civil war.

The left has a vested interest in breaking it all down in order to gain power. But, make no mistake, I believe it absolutely flows from Satan. It’s about rejecting God and misleading humanity into believing that they can be their own god with their own “personal truths” (hear that phrase a lot ?) and can control everything (like the weather via this ludicrous pseudo-religious “climate change” nonsense, which in itself is even more evil, since the goals of it involve eliminating more than 95% of the human population down to a few hundred million).
60 years of purging God and Christianity from our schools via a truly evil misruling by SCOTUS has helped drastically enable this cultural split.
Has to be 25 years ago, at Passover dinner my father quotes Clinton’s, “it’s the economy, stupid.” A cousin of my wife goes bat crap crazy on my father. My dad was illustrating the folly of Clinton and she just lost it. Needless to say, they didn’t speak at the next 10 Passover’s.
A few years later, at the Seder, my in-laws are talking about how George Bush is a monkey and how he hates blacks, women and gays. They are talking up Kerry as the savior and if Bush didn’t cheat Gore would be running for re-election.
And that’s when I nuked Passover. “If Hitler had a D next to his name you would vote for him.” That wound took 8 years to heal.
It’s polarized within the rat party. Democrats are a bunch of selfish bullies who only care about their own self interests. They coalesce around the premise that they are hated by republicans.
A handful of friends, who have uncontrollable TDS.
There’s only one liberal in our entire family and that’s my daughter-in-law.
She’s a Harvard grad and lawyer. There’s no reasoning with her. She’s also turning my 11 year old grandson into her clone. Fortunately ,the other grandson has zero interest in her politics. I adore this girl and when we’re all together we completely avoid all mention of politics.
You could say I am “rabidly” pro-Trump.
That being said, I can tell you I would never, ever instigate a propane filled in your face attack on someone I knew to be a liberal, be it in person or online.
Yet, it seems many, if not most lefties have no difficulty doing that.
That, coupled with what I believe to be completely irrational political positions, leads me to honestly conclude that liberalism is, indeed, a mental disorder.
