HOUSTON - A fundamentalist Mormon community in Mexico is linked to a triple-homicide that happened in Houston more than three decades ago.
Two brothers and an 8-year-old girl were killed execution-style on June 27, 1988, and investigators would eventually learn the killings were blood atonement for their sin of leaving a polygamous, Mormon cult called The Church of the Lamb of God.
The church, populated primarily of family members, was founded by Ervil LeBaron, a descendant of Mormons who split with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and immigrated to Mexico in the early 20th century to continue the practice of Under LeBarons leadership, the church became a criminal enterprise.
Stolen cars, they were heavy into credit card abuse, forgery, theyd also done a couple of bank robberies, said retired Houston police officer Richard Holland who investigated the murders.

In other words....The murdered women and children deserved it.
Didn’t I read that Mitt Romney was associated with this faction of LDS? Not kidding.
At no point does the article imply such a thing.
There are about 125 different Mormon denominations (from the most correct church ever, JSjr said) - the RLDS is the second largest and now goes by the name: Community of Christ.
Mormons, Mexico,.... Mitt!
Willard’s dad, George Romney (early life and background)

Dont think OP referred to this article specifically
His father was born there in that colony.
I recall that, too. Grandfather maybe with that group?
The irony..
“the killings were blood atonement for their sin of leaving a polygamous, Mormon cult called The Church of the Lamb of God.”
That is EXACTLY what the filthy, deranged communist “press” is implying. They have to provide cover for their pals in the cartels, and they are angry that one of the women said “hold on to your guns” on the air.
Say what you will, but Mormons are great neighbors!
Had NO idea there were that many denominations. Does that mean that each one split from the original LDS??
The book “Under the Banner of Heaven” is good reading to learn about the LeBaron cult.
That has been my experience but I have had other non-Christians who were great neighbors, too. However, several of the fringe, polygamous extremist Mormon groups are bad news. Blood atonement, Avenging Angels, and other theological abominations are still a reality today in these groups.
Similar story in the LA Slimes right after the family was murdered..basically saying yeah they deserved it..these are the same people who gave a standing ovation to a woman yesterday because she got fired, boo hoo..but a family gets murdered, eh, no biggie, they got what was coming to them
Yep. The true LDS church is the RLDS/Community of Christ. Joseph Smith Jr. is buried in Mound Grove Cemetery, Independence, MO., I visited his grave and the nick/nack store there where they have small statues of him plus other stuff. You would have thought he’d be entombed in a mausoleum in SLC.
