Thursdays Browns-Steelers game ended with an ugly brawl that saw Cleveland defensive end Myles Garrett remove Steelers quarterback Mason Rudolphs helmet and swing it at his unprotected head.
Current and former NFL players watching from home were stunned and took to Twitter with reactions predicting a season-long ban, while James Harrison said an assault like that would warrant jail time if it happened on the street.

Now, now, now, no reason to get all upset. They was just fussin' and fightin'. You know how young people are.
Roid rage? That’s crazy. The perp ought to be banned from the NFL for life.
Theres pushing and shoving and cursing at each other all the time but that was plain ol assault. Browns players were extremely upset at their teammates Myles Garrett.
That was my thought too. Banned for life and a few years in jail for assault with a deadly weapon.
Yeah, forget the season. He needs to go to jail and then never be allowed back into a stadium
attempted manslaughter
I didn’t realize ANTIFA was now wearing uniforms..
Behold - the glory days of the modern NFL. What a travesty. George Halas is spinning in his grave at this grotesque collection of thugs and felons.
Browns won. Steelers lost. Myles will be out for the rest of the year. Congrats to the rest of the team for dominating the Steelers start to finish. Best Thursday night game all year.
National Felons League.
What was Rudolph doingto Garretts helmet/neck right after tackle (before all this happened)? I couldnt tell from videos
Then did you also notice, like I did, that Rudolph, after being brought down, was attempting to rip of Garrett’s helmet first?
Not to condone what happened next, but sometimes it seems the dude fighting back gets the blame.
But yes, his reply was inappropriate beyond a scuffle.
He was trying to rip it off.
I agree. Garrett should be out for an extended period of time. But well just let outraged ESPN decide the narrative from here on out, shall we?
They'd make him the owner of a franchise on the spot.
Isn’t anyone pointing out that Mason Rudolph started the unprovoked fight?
Yep, I noticed in the post-game replays (didn’t watch the game) the Steelers QB (Rudolph) taking exception to getting sacked and pulling at Garrett’s helmet/head...then Garrett goes “tit for tat” but rather than giving a shove & walking away Garrett escalated and used Rudolph’s helmet as a weapon to bonk him on the head with. Took it far too far, and should know that the last to throw a punch gets seen by the refs and always get the penalty/fine/suspension.
Well, many players said that Dick Butkus would bite the opposing linesmen. Think how unacceptable THAT would be today.
When his nephew played for Illinois, they called the team The BITING Illini.
I have a feeling that the NFL will be sending a message on this one.
He should be done for the season for sure. I doubt any jail time. I was at least glad to see he took responsibility in his post-game interview. I’m just not into football in recent years and things like this are part of the reason. Hate to see it happened but mostly I just don’t care.
