Regis Philbin lists his Connecticut mansion at a significant loss

Regis Philbin and his wife Joy have put their Greenwich, Conn., home on the market — at a much lower price than they bought it.

The 13,661-square-foot residence is selling for $4.595 million, according to the listing. That price is actually 36 percent less than what the Philbins paid for it almost 10 years ago, The Wall Street Journal reported.

“Every seller in Greenwich is having to adjust to this market,” the property’s listing agent, Joseph Barbieri of Sotheby’s International Realty Greenwich Brokerage told FOX Business. […]

The English Manor-inspired house has six bedrooms, nine full bathrooms and three partial bathrooms, according to the listing.

It also has seven fireplaces, mahogany library, a billiard room, a “pub room” with a full bar, a home theater, sauna, gym and a wine cellar, the listing said. […]

Amenities on the property also include a one-bedroom guest house and garages to fit five cars, the listing said. …

“The rich leaving high tax states reminds me...”

Regis is downsizing. He’ll either stay there or go to Fla for the weather.

Property taxes are about $79,000 per year — which is actually down from about $82,000 a few years ago. I suspect they filed a tax appeal based on the diminished value.

Kind of remarkable that most American families couldn’t afford to live there even if you sold them the house for $1.

How auto correct turned kitchen into jet engines is amazing. But it’s my fault for not editing.

What became of the nuns? I suppose they went to a smaller place or a nursing home. It was long ago. However, I do believe there’s a trend and their kind is going extinct. There are more dead churches in this area, than dead malls.

Another part of the problem is upkeep. The church may not want to foot the bills for a huge place housing a half dozen nuns. Maintenance, insurance, utilities, all to be paid by a diminishing congregation.

You can buy an old church in PA for a handful of beans. I’ve seen them go for $30k or so, and just one window is worth that in some markets.

...

And as all those houses lose value, the corrupt government will keep raising rates to make up the difference.

A question of “how many” answered with a question of “how big.” Marginally catty. I Cor. 16:9 informs that chapel quantity = 1, and size = you.

People are escaping the ruinous taxation of CT, and high-end home prices reflect this reality.

You posted the reality: This is only surprising to morons with no clue about supply and demand and the long-term effects of Leftist policy.

A purple roof?

How gay.

...

I think the roof is gray. The photo has color balance and oversaturation problems.

I took a hit on my Connecticut home last year. I decided that waiting was not going to improve my position. Only house in 30 years of home ownership that I took a hit on. It hurt but I'm over it now,.

I was paying $14,000 per year in property taxes. That's more than what most people pay for a mortgage!

Property taxes of $6,541 per month = $78,492 per year

Just thought folks would want to know before making an offer. ;-)
