John Legend, Kelly Clarkson release updated version of 'Baby, It's Cold Outside'

John Legend and Kelly Clarkson just dropped the updated version of “Baby, It’s Cold Outside.”

The two "Voice" coaches collaborated to create a modernized version of the Christmas classic — fully of reworked lines in light of the original’s growingly controversial lyrics.

In the original tune, which has been covered by many artists since its debut, a female sings: "I really can’t stay,” to which a man responds: "But baby, it’s cold outside.” In another part of a song, a woman is heard singing lines like "Say what's in this drink?", "The answer is no" and "I've gotta get home."

I can honestly say I do not know one song by either of these performers. Then again, other than public places such as supermarkets or hotel lobbies, I probably never had to endure the painful drivel.

Anyway, Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, TSO, that is my preferred "Holiday" music.

Progressives.

Everything they touch.

Long past time to shove their silly little objections up their well-worn Obamaholes.

An SJW rewrite of a fun winter / Christmas song, sounds like a hit to me. Can’t wait to see what they do with “White Christmas”!

This collaboration is a warm-up to the same duet performing the theme song for the sequel to the all-womyn version of "Ghostbusters".

And then it's on to a tribute to Adam Schiff.

Tony Bennett and GAGa did a great remake of the song several years ago.

First time I heard that song was way back in the late 1950s on the Academy Awards show on TV, as entertainment.

Some girl singing it, and some bald headed man saying the “Baby it’s cold outside” lines.

‘Celebrities’ need to remember that at least HALF OF THE POPULATION don’t agree with their politics! They have ruined the movies, sports education.....now they’re going to ruin Christmas?? I sure hope well over half the population is FED UP with being bullied by those who THINK they are better than we are.

When I hear “Baby it’s cold outside” I think of a MUCH BETTER SONG.

“Cold Outside” by Big House

TURN IT UP!

https://www.bing.com/search?q=cold+outside+big+house&PC=U316&FORM=CHROMN

Lyrics
C’mon, get on it
That’s it, baby, now kick it in

Baby, it’s cold outside out here in the rain
Sure looks warm inside through the window pane
I been knockin’ on your front door
I been waitin’ all night an’ you know what for
It’s cold outside, let me come on in

What’s that blue tick hound doin’ in my chair?
Better throw that dog a bone, get him outta there
I been walk, walk, walkin’ since a quarter to four
I’m gonna keep talkin’ ‘til you open that door
It’s cold outside, let me come on in

Get a little lovin’ in the oven
Sugar pie in the pan
I know what you got cookin’, baby
An’ I’m a hungry man

I been comin’ ‘round nearly every night
But you keep that door, baby, locked up tight
Now tell me why, why must you insist
On deprivin’ me of what I can’t resist?
It’s cold outside, let me come on in

Get a little lovin’ in the oven
Sugar pie in the pan
I know what you got cookin’, baby
An’ I’m a hungry man

Well, your kiss is what I miss
A little lovin’ after dark
So slide the chain off this old door
That’s keepin’ us apart

If I did you wrong, let me make it right
Or I can say I’m sorry for the rest of my life
Or we can talk, talk, talk about it all night long
You could open the door and let me see what’s wrong
It’s cold outside, let come on in
Baby, it’s cold outside, let come on in
Baby, it’s cold outside, let come on in

It’s cold, baby

Best line of the song....

“If I did you wrong, let me make it right
Or I can say I’m sorry for the rest of my life”.

‘Celebrities’ need to remember that at least HALF OF THE POPULATION don’t agree with their politics!

The plan is to keep pounding the collectivist message into that half, and over time make them doubt their beliefs.

Trump is literally the only political figure I can remember since Reagan who has tried to do this back to the other side ("What have you got to lose?").

The Bushes and Kasiches and Ryans of the world all think it is downright rude to expound upon your beliefs to an audience of your enemies - and a horrifying breach of protocol to actually claim the moral high ground. Their message always ends incorporating some concession to the Left's claims of moral superiority: "Yes, our party often has been been racist and sexist and homophobic and colonialist. But hey, we will beat the terrorists...and how about these tax cuts!"

Trump's counter-evangelism is working - one of the reasons everyone is so frantic to get rid of him.

From “House Party” by J. Geils:

Ain’t nothing’ but a houseparty
C’mon baby, dig that crazy soul
I know you’re gonna lost control
You can do boogaloo

Anything that you want to
I know it’s cold outside

The world is so full of ignorant losers nowadays they don't deserve beautiful songs like Baby it's Cold Outside.

Even before all the woke hoopla about this song arose a few years ago, I failed to see why anyone would want to put a song about seduction on their Christmas playlist. This song ranks up there with Santa Baby as the winners of the WTF award for Christmas songs.

I agree that people need to get a life, these sort of things happen in real life, and all that. But that doesn't mean that my defense of civilization should require commingling a song about trying to get into someone's nickers along with Andy Williams, Vince Guaraldi and Peanuts, and Jose Feliciano as I celebrate the birth of Jesus.

Aside from the version in the movie Elf, the song sucks. So does Santa Baby. Just because a song predates the 1960s doesn't mean it's good. Indeed, I'd rather listen to Paul McCartney's Wonderful Christmastime.

Guess they haven’t seen this old version with Betty Garrett and Red Skelton: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xpDLpz88V-I

In the film Neptune's Daughter the song is first performed by Ricardo Montalbán and Esther Williams, then by Betty Garrett and Red Skelton but with a comic parody twist: this time the man wants to leave and the woman is the host and wants him to stay.

That version with the woman wanting the man to stay the night has been done recently.

Lady Gaga & Joseph Gordon Levitt - Baby, it's cold outside

I guess the difference is that back in the 50’s a man trying to convince a woman to stay the night with him, even plying her with liquor, was seen as “romantic” and normal while a woman trying to convince a man to stay the night with her using the very same lyrics was seen as comical and abnormal in a way, but today in the song’s original lyrics and methods of seduction, the man is seen as a sexual predator but if performed by a woman, the woman is seen as empowered and sexually liberated.

In either case I’ve always seen the song lyrics as, whether the man or the woman is the “aggressor” or it is the man or woman being convinced into staying the night, it is someone trying to come up with excuses not to stay, but not really needing all that much convincing. In other words, they really do want to stay, and not because it’s cold outside.

Pretty sad when new lyrics for new songs cannot be thought up. Why fool with time tested arrangements and lyrics. Same goes for remake of movies and TV shows. What happened to creativity?
