The hand of a Scottish tourist who was last seen snorkeling off the French island of Réunion, near Madagascar, was found in the stomach of a tiger shark and he was identified by the wedding ring still on a finger.
The 44-year-old man, who has not been identified, went missing Saturday while swimming off the coast of the Indian Ocean island, according to the Guardian.
His wife identified the ring, which was recovered during an autopsy of the shark, one of five caught for research purposes on Monday and Tuesday by the Centre de Securite Requin, according to local TV channel Réunion La 1ère.

The shark claims that the Scotsman asked him if he needed a hand.

the shark was later heard to say “Stay away from that mediteranian restaurant- it’s horrible! I asked for a HAM sandwich, and what do they give me? Just terrible! “

The waters around Reunion Island are among the most dangerous in the world as far as shark attacks, you’d have to be suicidal to swim there. This was a tiger shark, but the area is home to a large bull shark population also.

It takes some kind of idiot to snorkel in a well known shark infested area.

"The hand of a Scottish tourist...snorkeling off the French island of Réunion,...was found in the stomach of a tiger shark..."
Let's not jump to any conclusions here.
Maybe the hand was floating in the water and just happened to get ingested by the poor shark - heavens! he could have choked on it.
Or, the police might have planted that hand on/in the shark....

He can’t be identified yet someone recognized the wedding ring in the shark. Isn’t that a clue that next of kin are aware?

Between 2010 and 2017, 23 shark attacks occurred in the waters of Réunion, of which nine were fatal. In July 2013, the Prefect of Réunion Michel Lalande announced a ban on swimming, surfing, and bodyboarding off more than half of the coast. Lalande also said 45 bull sharks and 45 tiger sharks would be culled, in addition to the 20 already killed as part of scientific research into the illness ciguatera. Darwin Award winner...
