OK ... I am cheap .... REALLY cheap, and my sound card went out ...

How to vid replacing a sound card...20-35$ on Amazon and places like New Egg or Micro Center...
If the ‘puter has no other problems might just be easiest way to get back up and running...
And epstein didn’t kill himself lol
Yeah I got an 8gb ASUS and it works very well for what I need.
I’ve bough used desktops. And I STOPPED. Refurbished or not, they NEVER last that long AT ALL.
I think your laptop advice was great.
And what is linux anyway? I need to know after hearing about it for more than 20 years :)
Is it an operating system like windows??
bury it and plant flowers on it lol
Thanks for the heads up on refurb desktops. Im still a desktop man for power computing and extensive word processing. They seem to be good for about 4 years. These prices arent much more than the new copy of Windows 10. For mobile computing Ive gone completely over to a 12.6 in I-pad. I keep a cheap external keyboard in my briefcase. $20 on amazon and it works fine. The same thing from Apple costs$150.
Bro your knowledge on this is so far ahead of mine it would be like comparing American technology to the technology of an undiscovered tribe :)
I looked but I can’t make head or tail out of it.
That is what I was going to say.
I had one for quite awhile before my employer gave me a new laptop.
Ah, just get yourself on old, cheap PC (desktop or laptop, it does’t matter - unlike other operating systems, Linux doesn’t require hardware like a flamethrower), download the OS to a flash drive from the Mint homepage (it’s a free OS, unlike Mac or Windows), and follow the bouncing ball on the install/how-to page. It’ll be a good time-waster on a rainy evening, instead of streaming something on Nextflix, and you’ll pick it up at about the same pace as Mac iOS, but there’s a bazillion more apps out there, and it’s fun. Plus you’ll staand out in a crowd. LOL
Check out eMachines.
Your right, it is sort of quaint in it's own way. While using the rig, I keep the IPhone on it's charger and set to Never Autolock. The batteries in the keyboard and mouse are suppose to last for at least a year and do power down automatically without use.
It was an exercise for this old computer geek; an investigation to see what was possible. And I find it is to my liking. No Excel expenses. Shared "Numbers" App free andthe budget real time on the icloud with the wife rather than email and copying them.
Besides, the Iphone Pictures and Videos look great on my 55" 4K curved screen.
What the young do play with these days. Utterly Amazing.
What I have. 6 year old graphics card! Suggested Power supply is 450 W
2048MB ATI AMD Radeon R9 200 Series (XFX Pine Group) from Oct 2013
XFX Double D R9 270X R9-270X-CDFC with 2gb memory

1x HDMI <— I use the HDMI connection.
2x mini-DisplayPort

Windows 7 Professional 64-bit
“Did you mean 500 GB HD? :)”
yes ... good catch
That’s a nice looking PC.
Yeah, I wonder if I could hook up a bluetooth gamepad to my iphone and use it to play duke nukem on the big screen.
You’ve given me ‘ideas’...
:)
Boy you know your stuff.
So if I decide to build a new computer say in February next year and want to use Windows 7, something like Service Pack won’t be available at all? Is there a way to get just the updates on to disk?
Sounds amazing.
What mother did u use?
BTW, would you mind sharing the list of parts? I’ve been thinking about such a machine.
Cheers
The point is that if future vulnerabilities are found, Microsoft isn’t going to fix them.
My current setup is a 19in TV, wireless mouse, wireless keyboard, wireless printer and a laptop.
