San Jose Sharks forward Evander Kane is being sued by a Las Vegas casino for failing to repay $500,000 in credit markers after gambling between playoff games last April.

Court documents obtained by the Daily Mail claim that Kane, 28, received the eight markers from The Cosmopolitan valued between $20,000 and $100,000 on or around April 15, when the Sharks were in town for Games 3 and 4 of their first-round series with the Vegas Golden Knights.

Kane has not repaid those markers, according to the court filing.

The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas is also seeking a repayment of legal fees from Kane, who signed a seven-year deal with the Sharks in 2018 worth a total of $49 million.

Mr. Kane is lucky casinos are no longer run by the mob. They would not bother going to court trying to collect debts. I know he signed a big contract but losing $500 K in one session in not a good sign.

Good to see a casino biting it. I have zero sympathy for the gambling racket.

The NHL has its own enforcers! Maybe they're just waiting for the right game. I always thought gambling debts were not enforceable. Is the law different in Nevada ?

Yes gambling debts are enforceable(collectible) in Nevada and many other states.

Was gonna say....suing him is quite civilized compared to how a Vegas casino would have handled this in the old days.

The boys back in Chicago would call Joe Pesci and tell him to take care of the problem.

This is what happens when you put ice skates on a guy who belongs in the NFL.

Nothing stops a gambler. I’ve personally seen several families ruined by those psychos. They are worse than druggies. Druggies die in a few years. Gamblers destroy those around them for decades.

I’m still scratching my head, trying to figure out why the NHL put a team in Las Vegas in the first place. What the hell do they think is going to happen?

Horrible story in the news here a couple of years ago. A friend of a friend was suffering from MS and confined to a wheelchair. She had hired a home health aide to take care of her and of any household needs.

This aide stole $37,000 from a lady in a wheelchair because she could not stop gambling at the local casino. The lady has since died.

Doesn’t get any lower than stealing from a woman in a wheelchair. Tell me again, Ed Rendell, how bringing in casinos would not impact the crime rate.

Pro sports have long been wary of Las Vegas because of the gambling temptation. The NHL made the first real dive into the market with the Golden Knights (note, this was a San Jose player, not a Las Vegas player) but the Oakland Raiders will move to Las Vegas next year and Major League Baseball (home of the 1919 Black Sox scandal and Pete Rose) is toying with the idea of moving the Oakland A’s to Vegas as well.

So, while this looks like a single person event, the pro sports leagues would be wise to order a ban of all their athletes from gambling in their casinos just on the appearance of impropriety.

The Casino and Vegas in general are still run by the mob. They are just more circumspect.
