LITTLE VILLAGE — A 7-year-old girl and 31-year-old man were shot while trick-or-treating on the busy 26th Street corridor Thursday night in Little Village, police said.
At 5:30 p.m., the girl and the man were walking east in the 3700 block of West 26th Street as three men stood on the south side of the street. One of those men fired shots at the girl and 31-year-old man, police said.
The girl was shot in her lower neck and taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition, police said. She was wearing a bumblebee or ladybug costume, according to the Tribune.

And let me guess, nothing like this happened in Maine or Vermont or New Hampshire or Kentucky or the Dakotas or Montana or such other places firearms prohibitionists consider dangerous.
I’m sure Chief Eddie Johnson was “passed out” in his car this Halloween night and could not be reached for comment.
The key here is who was the 31 year old man and what did he do for a living? I doubt he was an insurance salesman...

Knew the area in the 60’s when I worked for two community newspapers there. Was beginning to change then . It’s “hispanic” mostly Mexican
I read that the community is being very cooperative with police...as opposed to other certain non-Mexican neighborhoods....in finding the culprits.

We have answered one question though. Namely, things are much worse in America TODAY than they were say 200 years ago. Meaning, horrible, horrible stuff like intentionally shooting a 7 year old girl happens these days. I have never heard of any such incident in say Colonial America.
Little Village is a colony of Mexico. The Mexican flag is predominantly displayed there, and the only place a U.S. flag can be seen is at the post office. Political candidates in Mexico actually come up to Little Village and Pilsen to campaign, as the residents are Mexican citizens who vote in Mexican elections.
