I thought today's loony parents forbid their kids from celebrating Halloween. Now, they're sending them out until after bedtime so they have an excuse to skip school in case they might learn something on Friday.

Snowflakes.
When I was a child, I went trick or treating till way after bedtime. Still got up in time for school the next day.

Not to worry. Adults will fix the situation my moving Halloween to the last Saturday in October. While I intended this to be sarcasm, it wouldn’t surprise me to see it happen.

Headline from the future!
Students by an overwhelming majority (92%!) sign petition to cancel school outright! Why this may not be a bad idea!

SHOCK!!!!....Most school kids will sign ANY petition for ANY reason, that will cancel a day of school.
This has always been so, even before the internet.

Texas. This is the same district that repudiated its mascot, Redskins, last year.
There is a Round Rock school district in AZ, all Navajo kids. Their HS Mascot? Redskins.

One of the pleasures or liabilities of aging is that one gets to look back at the “good old days”. I grew up in a city in SoCal. Trick-or-Treat was strictly for kids. Only toddlers would have their parents in tow. By the time you were 8, you went with your friends. You got home-made cookies and an occasional apple and tons of candy. Nobody was trying to poison kids and no parent was going to drive you to the rich part of town to get nicer stuff. It was better then (if you don’t count the polio and stuff like that).

There was a Change.org petition last year trying to get it changed to the last Saturday of October.

I have decided that we will CLOSE our Halloween down at 8pm. We’ll just shut the lights off, and retire to the back of the house. Plud, I really do NOT like OLDER kids trick or treating. What do you all think is the Maximum age for a tricker beggar...er...treater?

A strange thing I noticed in my new neighborhood.
As I discovered that most of the neighbors are from India, they put up Diwali Lights, instead of Halloween lights.
I must say, I prefer the Diwali Lights.

Well my neighbor put up her Christmas tree a week or so ago (She always does...as Evangelical Christians who prosyletize around the world I don’t think they’re much into Halloween, plus she loves Christmas.)

When I was a child I always got the day after Halloween off from school.
I attended a Catholic grade school. The day after Halloween is All Saints Day, a holy day of obligation. The school was closed.

Hmm...I thought sugar and additives were bad and the latest trend was to let kids have about 5 pieces and throw the rest out. Round Rock parents need to get woke.

Yup! Just ask Greta Thunberg. She gets full participation on her Friday strikes for climate change.

I’m sure the teachers are for it.
I’ve heard that the kids are miserable to work with the day after Halloween. All that candy.
