Snowflakes.

When I was a child, I went trick or treating till way after bedtime. Still got up in time for school the next day.

One of the pleasures or liabilities of aging is that one gets to look back at the “good old days”. I grew up in a city in SoCal. Trick-or-Treat was strictly for kids. Only toddlers would have their parents in tow. By the time you were 8, you went with your friends. You got home-made cookies and an occasional apple and tons of candy. Nobody was trying to poison kids and no parent was going to drive you to the rich part of town to get nicer stuff. It was better then (if you don’t count the polio and stuff like that).

When I was a child I always got the day after Halloween off from school.

I attended a Catholic grade school. The day after Halloween is All Saints Day, a holy day of obligation. The school was closed.
