To many youngsters, Halloween is one of the best times of the year. Who wants to worry about going to school the next day when you could be staying home eating candy?
That seems to be the sentiment of many students in Round Rock ISD.
According to Change.org, a petition to get their district to cancel the day after Halloween has gained nearly 14,000 signature, as of Wednesday morning. Students are almost at their goal of 15,000 signatures.

When I was a child, I went trick or treating till way after bedtime. Still got up in time for school the next day.
Not to worry. Adults will fix the situation my moving Halloween to the last Saturday in October. While I intended this to be sarcasm, it wouldn’t surprise me to see it happen.

Students by an overwhelming majority (92%!) sign petition to cancel school outright! Why this may not be a bad idea!
SHOCK!!!!....Most school kids will sign ANY petition for ANY reason, that will cancel a day of school.
This has always been so, even before the internet.
Texas. This is the same district that repudiated its mascot, Redskins, last year.
There is a Round Rock school district in AZ, all Navajo kids. Their HS Mascot? Redskins.
Heck, the next day was trading day!

I have decided that we will CLOSE our Halloween down at 8pm. We’ll just shut the lights off, and retire to the back of the house. Plud, I really do NOT like OLDER kids trick or treating. What do you all think is the Maximum age for a tricker beggar...er...treater?
A strange thing I noticed in my new neighborhood.
As I discovered that most of the neighbors are from India, they put up Diwali Lights, instead of Halloween lights.
I must say, I prefer the Diwali Lights.
As long as a you get a vindaloo, papadums & a lager you’ll be fine!
Well my neighbor put up her Christmas tree a week or so ago (She always does...as Evangelical Christians who prosyletize around the world I don’t think they’re much into Halloween, plus she loves Christmas.)
When I was a child I always got the day after Halloween off from school.
I attended a Catholic grade school. The day after Halloween is All Saints Day, a holy day of obligation. The school was closed.
Dentists and Endocrinologists are all-a-twitter over the increase in cavities and diabetes.
Hmm...I thought sugar and additives were bad and the latest trend was to let kids have about 5 pieces and throw the rest out. Round Rock parents need to get woke.
Yup! Just ask Greta Thunberg. She gets full participation on her Friday strikes for climate change.
I’m sure the teachers are for it.
I’ve heard that the kids are miserable to work with the day after Halloween. All that candy.
