Today’s Cryptogram

You can find this little fun word game, to combat early dementia and senility in us baby boomers, in several daily publications.

The way it works is a letter stands for another letter. For example: AXYDLBAAXR is LONGFELLOW (does not apply to today's cryptogram).

Beware, the game is very addictive. If this is your first time, don't be intimidated.

PLEASE DO NOT post the answer in general comments, but DO post your time and any tips you might give the group on how you solve these puzzles as puzzle solvers love to hear how you made out.

You can certainly send your solution to my private reply, or if you need a hint for today’s Cryptogram.

If you're just starting out on these, be patient, as you'll be proficient in no time.

If you need a little help you can copy the cryptogram and paste it to Hal’s Helper below:

You can then work on the puzzle without using pen and paper.

HAL'S CRYPTOGRAM HELPER

THE IN THING NOW IS TO SCROLL DOWN TO MAGNUM44’S “HELPFUL HINT” BEFORE YOU SOLVE THE PUZZLE.

Not so hard. Never heard of the author, though.

3rd word is neither where nor there.

A huge pet peeve of mine.

(Not a bad solve time considering the longish author.)

Then is it safe to assume you don’t own the complete set of Goethe’s works, leather bound, and in the original German, either?

First time I just pretty much went from the beginning to the end...about 3 minutes.

Yes, that is a safe assumption.
I do have all the Hardy Boys books, though.

Many short words make it easy to guess. I rarely see the long form of the author’s name which distracted me a bit.

I know a couple of those guys.

First instinct on the first two words was good, but for the first letter of the second word. Easy to work after that.

Yeah, CW CO did it for me. Otherwise it would have been hard. I originally thought the first letter of the second word was "B", which made me misguess the first letter in the name of der Dichter.
