Windows 10 could be better if only Microsoft got rid of its layers of made-men, according to a former Microsoft distinguished engineer.
Tired of boring, buggy Windows 10 updates? You can blame them on Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella's failure to eliminate the company's legacy of appointing "made-men".

“10 was an attempt to bridge between laptops/desktops and cellphones”
It’s a solution to a problem nobody had that nobody was asking for, and a crappy solution at that.

You can have one right now and not change a thing on that one or void any warranties. Install linux on a portable external USB drive and point your BIOS to look for it first in the boot order list. I just made one with 2 TB of storage and I can plug it into anything and run it as it’s own portable linux system just as if it was hard installed on the internal drive. :)

Ive been in IT for 30 years. Beta tester for Windows 95, 98 and XP. Currently Director of IT for a small SE corporation. Well, that makes 2 of us. I've installed Win 10 on dozens of our computers with little problems. To make the transition from Win 7 to 10 I install Classic Shell. The users barely notice the difference.

I’ve been using Win10 since it came out. I also have iPhone/iPads and dual boot Ubuntu. Right now I’m running 5 Android windows on my Windows10 desktop machine while at the same time running Outlook, Word and Paintshop Pro 5(yes, the free 1995 version). Windows 10 is a good OS.

But it will probably void the warranty if you have one. Making a portable external high capacity USB linux drive to boot from will not. :)

Turbotax has an online version which is what you should use.
Why would anyone want to put all their personal and financial info online?

To make the transition from Win 7 to 10 I install Classic Shell.I thought Classic Shell updates to remain compatible with Win 10 updates were discontinued due to the frequency and complexity of Win 10 changes. Is that still true? Is Classic Shell compatible with recent Win 10 versions?

Win-8 truly was a POS.
My sister went there, and then to Mac.
The local computer guys managed to rip-out Win-8 and install a new copy of Win-7 Pro 64x, and I keep it for traveling, when taking my commercial-grade Win-7 Pro 64x desktop isn’t practical.

Windows 10 works fine for me on my work PC and personal laptop. And though I haven't used MS' Visual Studio for my work in years, it's still a favorite for my personal software development.
And if it matters to those of "made-men" sensitivity, I'm a software engineer with 30+ years IT experience as a Christian American white male who supports all of the liberties guaranteed in the Bill of Rights. :)

Try Linux Mint....my laptop is at least 5 plus years old and has been running Mint all week, 24/7 with at least 20 Tabs open.
I have a gaming PC that I bought for $400 that will run Mint with 30 plus tabs open for weeks at a time and it flies.
