In what officials are calling a bizarre incident, an Arkansas hunter was killed by a deer that he thought he had shot dead...Thomas Alexander, age 66, who lived in the area and was an experienced hunter, was sitting in an elevated deer stand during the state's muzzleloader season..."It appears he shot the deer and he had put his rifle down near the deer stand and walked down to check and make sure it was dead..."

You can, but it takes longer. Just hope the shootee doesn't run off while you're reloading.
Ha. My dog chased a deer, I chased the dog and when I caught up there was a buck staring, and starting that deliberate approach.
I sidled crosswise to put some daylight between us and told her she was on her own.
Fortunately for the dog, the buck didn’t much like being triangulated.
Sure can, just takes a bit longer. It, pull the pistol and finish it off. Or as Rogers Rangers rules dictate, “let them close enough, let ‘em have it with your rifle, then jump out and finish him off with your tomahawk”.
Point is to insure your quarry is dead. Assume even a deer is a threat until verified dead.
Go to the Smokey Mountains Park sometime and you’ll see idiots seeing how close they can get to a 900 lb elk.
His tombstone will say, in small letters: “Tommy Alexander’s last mistake. He put his rifle down at the wrong time.”
Deer can rise up on hind legs and use front hoofs as piercing weapons.
“Patrick McManus is a national treasure.”
Absolutely, and there was an eccentric old hunter and gunsmith in my community that could have been the inspiration for Rancid Crabtree. I used to lend my McManus books out and wben I got them back Id ask: “Hey, Rancid Crabtree remind you of any...” “Yeah! Old Dale!”

Looks like the Bucks are really in a Rut!
Reindeer females keep their antlers longer than the males. Thus all does.
Sorry, needed my glasses... they are not reindeer. Nice racks.
You cannot double-tap with a muzzleloader.
______________
I was under the impression you COULD reload.
He gave me years of giggles.
I was watching a 6pt black tail chasing some does around my back yard yesterday.
It pretty obvious that he did not fear me, all he wanted was Bambis Mom.
He was crazy, in rut.
I dont see Bucks very often at all.
Temptation to poach was easy to resist since I have a freezer full of Crowd Cow right now.
I would not want to get in his way.
