This makes imminent sense. No longer constrained by the crushing burden of having to defend the lives of ordinary citizens with firearms, they can all simply be retrained and repurposed to better serve the newfound emotional needs of modern New Yorkers.
So, for example, during daily violent crime sprees and credible terrorist threats, the NYPD can deploy its dreaded new “Marcel Marseau Division” to perform classic mime routines and make balloon animals for the children of relieved victims and survivors.
If you believe Mr. Bowman’s LinkedIn page, he’s a part of the Educational Industrial Complex and has never held a private sector job.
Neither had the last 4 ‘Rats who campaigned at my door. I know because I always ask.
Explains a lot.
I said it only as a reference to proper self defense. Cops only rarely catch perps in the act. They’re there most often to pick up the pieces and write the report so that if and when the bad guy is caught, he/she can be properly adjudicated. Don’t depend on law enforcement for your own self defense. As you pointed out, there are simply too few of them. Criminals are afraid of cops because they’re armed and trained. They should be afraid of normal citizens for the same reason.

This piece of $hit wants cops dead. He should say what he is thinking. He wants obama’s boys to run free in the streets, raping, killing and stealing, with the police cowering in fear.
He hates us and this country.
The police in Canada are armed. It isn’t England.
In a circuitous way could work. Vigilance committees would emerge with a much more definitive and timely administration of frontier justice.
“The police are for AFTER youve been robbed or attacked.”
Seems very few people understand the construct of how the police operate.
Thanks, Holly!
It worked OK in Britain with the Bobbies... until they imported too many turd-worlders from the far reaches of the British Empire. In other words, with a mostly law-abiding citizenry, you can pull it off. But once there’s enough of a custom of violence, Fug-geddabout-it!
What's all this then?
I doubt that disarming New York police officers would be a good idea. Other British-esque policies would likely follow for the purpose of trying to make it work, and such a policy package would be incongruent with our U.S. Constitution and other laws. A better way would be to improve policies to agree more with our Second Amendment, everyone’s right to self-defense, and yes, general safety.
12. A modern version of the cops in “Demolition Man”, literally disarmed and dead.
