At the back of Costco's stores, past the televisions, jewelry, jumbo-sized ketchup jugs and tubs of mixed nuts, is one of the retailer's most prized items: The rotisserie chicken that costs just $4.99.
Cheap Kirkland Signature rotisserie chickens aren't only a quick way for families to get dinner on the table. For Costco, the chickens are a lure, pulling customers into stores and getting them to browse the aisles, adding sometimes hundreds of dollars worth of items to their shopping carts before they pick up that bird. The chickens have become almost a cult item. 91 million were sold last year, double the number from a decade earlier. They have their own Facebook page with nearly 13,000 followers. So Costco is willing to go to extreme lengths to keep its chickens at $4.99. For the past few years, it's been recruiting farmers for this moment: The official opening of a sprawling, $450 million poultry complex of its very own in Nebraska.

You’re correct, it’s not a statement. It was a comment and a personal preference.
I thoroughly dislike Pepsi products. Oddly enough, I find that I also don’t particularly care for the food in establishments where Pepsi products are the only choice in the fountain.
I admit it’s difficult to pass up a rotisserie chicken. My local supermarket offers two different sizes, and the larger one is around $8. Being single and petite I get four dinners out of that.
Beats McD’s, and also beats turning my kitchen into a war zone.
“Speaking of gadgets like TV & Laptops & kitchen gadgets, they seem to last for ever these days. Walmart, eBay are places to snap up bargains for those.”
Bought a Surface 6 bundle on sale. Saved almost $200.
Wife just bought an Ipad pro at $150 off the Apple price.
Bought at Costco
Okay that is just stupid. Buy the executive membership and get a rebate percentage on what you spend. Buy your tires there and your car battery. Get your meat and butter and Keurig coffee. Toilet paper and dog food. Laundry detergent. You might not get a rebate big enough to cover the membership but it will be pretty close.
Anti capitalist anti meat etc.
Silly people that believe in starving masses.
You know the type.
So, Why did I click on CNN?
I dunno.
I gotta solve the puzzle of fixing stupid, no luck.
” the sizes of food items in Costco was too big for us.”
We freeze a lot. Lots of stuff is packaged into smaller sizes inside the big package.
Just the two of us. Walmart, Aldi’s for some veggies and Publix for their BOGO.
Costco gift cards for restaurants. $100 card for $89.
Yabbut, you have to go into the walmart and have your senses assaulted by the walmartians...........
Our Costco is definitely a cut above the wm denizens.
I hear them reindeer dogs are about 7 bucks. That true?
Which subsidies are those?
Costco gift cards for restaurants. $100 card for $80.
“I hear them reindeer dogs are about 7 bucks. That true?”
I have some fried chicken you can have for free. You pluck and you cook.
Oh brother
ragging against Costco chickens is gonna lose CNN more viewers than even its ragging against PDJT!
There’s almost NOTHING more popular in America than Costco chickens!!!!!!!
Old data, but between 1969 to 2009 food costs dropped from 13.5% of disposable income to 9.5% of disposable income.
That’s a 30% reduction in only 40 years.
A lot of Freepers complain about food with a full mouth AND pocketbook.
Refuse to travel to Fake News, CNN; but will contribute the fact WalMart’s rotisserie chicken is an economical meal in itself and the chicken can be de-boned and the meat used in cooked chicken dishes: hot chicken salad, chicken sandwiches or tortillas, Mexican chicken, etc. WalMart now sells Popcorn Chicken which is delicious when eaten with Ranch Style Salad Dressing. A ‘big salad’ add Popcorn Chicken and Ranch Dressing to a bowl of salad makings and top with freshly prepared croutons: Ooh la la a fast and great meal.
